Publisher's summary

A thousand years ago evil came to the land and has ruled with an iron hand ever since. The sun shines fitfully under clouds of ash that float down endlessly from the constant eruption of volcanoes. A dark lord rules through the aristocratic families, and ordinary folk are condemned to lives in servitude, sold as goods, labouring in the ash fields. But now a troublemaker has arrived, and there is rumour of revolt. A revolt that depends on criminal that no-one can trust and a young girl who must master Allomancy - the magic that lies in all metals.

Outstanding Fantasy Novel

The intricate story telling, amazing character development, and remarkable twists around every corner; these all add up to make for one of the best fantasy novels I've read.

His voice acting gives suspense, emotions, actions, and character to the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

You will simply be moved by this book as a whole, and how well it is written overall.

There is always another secret.

An interesting and complicated story full of character that you come to love despite their flaws. Worth a listen and re-listen.
This story is uniquely enthralling.

Enjoyable

What did you like best about The Final Empire? What did you like least?

Sanderson is a wonderful writer, who is full of energy and enthusiasm; for this reason, you will enjoy this series. However, it feels a little like child's play and Sanderson has finally grown up to write the Stormlight Archives.

ZZZZZZZZZ

What disappointed you about The Final Empire?

Interesting new concepts introduced (hard read)

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

MMM, I did struggle to push through this book, not an easy ready with allot of new concepts and allot of characters to remember.

Would you be willing to try another one of Michael Kramer’s performances?

I'm currently listening to book 2 of the Mistborn series. Already easier to read than the first book, but I've read better.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes, I think I'd rather see the movie

It's good and fun, but won't join the classics

The starting premise is good, interesting new world. But the brooding girl with tantrums aren't for mature readers. There is very little character development.

The reader was good and has a soothing voice with just enough differentiation to shape the characters.

Spoiler alert! The book fell flat towards the end, it was just a too easy resolution. A deus ex machina is a disappointing way to make all the pieces fit.

Mediocre

The writing was mediocre as usual. You can find his usual tropes even in Storm light archives. He is good at action set pieces. To think he wrote 5 books in this pandemic 2 years, I doubt how less of a trash they can be.

I wouldn’t recommend this book for anyone who is an engineer or knows a little bit of science.
