The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Moiraine Damodred arrives in Emond’s Field on a quest to find the one prophesized to stand against The Dark One, a malicious entity sowing the seeds of chaos and destruction. When a vicious band of half-men, half beasts invade the village seeking their master’s enemy, Moiraine persuades Rand al’Thor and his friends to leave their home and enter a larger unimaginable world filled with dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light.

The best way to understand the WoT series

If you could sum up The Eye of the World in three words, what would they be?

Best fantasy series.

What other book might you compare The Eye of the World to and why?

I would compare it to Lord of the Rings because of the extreme number of characters and the number of plots happening at the same time and is of the same genre.

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first audio book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Eye of the World, the first of the Wheel of Time series, is YOUR beginning to a world of adventure in a battle of good versus evil where light battles shadow.

Any additional comments?

I bought this to experience Immersion Reading with my Kindle Fire. I love that I can read and be read to. The plot of the book is complicated and the fictitious names difficult to pronounce. Having it narrated while reading is the best way to grasp the plot and identify the characters. I am disappointed that not all WoT books are offered for Immersion Reading. I also noted that there were errors in the dialog when compared to the actual text...some sentences were only changed slightly while others were totally omitted. One might think the narrators were given a different script rather than the actual book to read aloud. But those discrepancies were minor compared to the overall Immersion Reading experience.

Good but Annoying

I have read and reread numerous times since the books release. I truly enjoy the series. I started purchasing the narration as it's getting difficult for me to read. For the most part, the narration is fantastic. The annoying part is the quality of the narration, the skipping and garbled narration is very frustrating especially when it drags on for minutes. I'm assuming this was caused by reformatting for device and size, but come on, for the cost of buying 14 for the series you would think audible would have a little better quality control. Btw, I have 8 of the 14, and so far each has the same issues. and the issues are pretty consistent throughout each book narration.

great start to a series

very good start, has a lot of interesting fantasy ideas. I wish the magic system was a little more explained but there is 13 more books so I'm sure that will happen. but as it was left it seems like the magic users arsenal is just do whatever they want with their power. which makes you wonder why they can't just demolish half the enemies instead of running from them.

Great Read/listen

If you like long fantasies, this is as Tolkeinesk as I've found. I do wish the author would have given a bit more personality to the characters. I'm definitely going to continue the series. Can't wait for book two!

Confusing start but keep going!

I was a little lost at the beginning of this book. Took me longer than some to really get in to it and want more. By the end of the book I have some answers and many questions, so glad to have many more books in the series to enjoy!

The epic fantasy I was looking for

Being a Tolken fan and just finishing Game of Thrones I was looking for a new epic fantasy to sink my teeth into and the Wheel of Time delivers that in spades.

good, a lot of religious mumbo jumbo

I liked it, this book has many similarities to the Lord of the rings trilogy. It introduces the world at a good pace, leaves a lot open for the second book.

I love these books

This is my second time listening to this book and, I can honestly say I enjoyed it just as much the second time as the first. I've always looked for these long sweeping tales that progress over several long books (partly to get the most out of my audible credit 😁.) Writers that can pull this off are unfortunately far and few between. Jordan is one of the few in my opinion who has a great talent for it.

.

I was annoyed by the primary narrator at first, but I came to enjoy listening.
