Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

The first novel in Robert Jordan's #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Moiraine Damodred arrives in Emond’s Field on a quest to find the one prophesized to stand against The Dark One, a malicious entity sowing the seeds of chaos and destruction. When a vicious band of half-men, half beasts invade the village seeking their master’s enemy, Moiraine persuades Rand al’Thor and his friends to leave their home and enter a larger unimaginable world filled with dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

Glad I Stopped Listening to the Dissenters

I'll keep this short since there are plenty of great in-depth reviews of this series already. I just want to share my experience procrastinating on this purchase in case someone else is in the same boat. For a few years I avoided buying into this series due to it's size as well as some poor reviews which seemed consistent in their criticisms. Well I broke down and decided to give it a shot. I now feel foolish for avoiding it so long.

I've read up to book 4 and have been very impressed and entertained so far. I didn't find the authors ideas to be derivative as some reviews stated. There are some themes common to all fantasy, but the plot was original and well thought out. The setting and universe are familiar to fantasy fans, but in no way a rip off of any existing series. I've really enjoyed this series up to this point and would recommend it to any fantasy fans. Granted I have read from many people that the series has some low points, but improves in the end. I can forgive this considering how much I've enjoyed books 1-4.

So if you're on the fence about diving into the Wheel of Time series, take my advice and just do it.

Don’t watch the show; read the books instead

These books are incredible! The recent Amazon show does them a terrible disservice. Please give the real source material a chance.

long time reader first time listener

a solid audio book, although I must say it took me some time to get into the American accent (being more familiar with U.K readers). I love these books and the audiobook really brought a different element.

Superlative Adventure

The narrators are engaging and the material is excellent! Together they suspend reality and allow the reader to put themselves in the story. This series is one of my favorites!

Wow! Everyone should read this book!

I was introduced to this series by a friend that is also an avid reader. I have over 200 audiobooks and most are series of 1 type or another. After this book 1, I am certain that I will finish the entire series. Very well thought out and written. The performance was better than I hoped after learning about the premise of the series. Can't wait to see where it goes from here! I wish Robert Jordan was still around to write more.

Unabridged is Fantastic!

I thoroughly enjoyed this unabridged version of the first book in the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. Both readers were excellent and really helped create the time, place, characters and plot. You actually feel Rand's confusion and his growing awareness of who and what he is. I have re-read the series in hardback with each new published book. Having these now available in audible format allows me to enjoy them while driving. Do NOT waste your time or money on the abridged versions of this series. I did and found them very disappointing. Too much of the details critical to the character and plot development were not included. Hopefully, we can talk Audible in replacing the abridged version with unabridged.

Small Town heroes!

An amazing tale about small-town villagers escaping evil following the one person they don't trust.

A good set up, that starts to fall apart.

An enjoyable collection of characters that do not have enough opportunities to bounce off one another, in a world that we do not see enough of. Unfortunately, once the entire group is together, the actual plot becomes a string of events with very little connection. Things just happen at that point.

Exceptional!

This was my third time reading this after 10 years.

it was as enjoyable this time as it was the 1st time.

actually, 1st time was read. Next 2 were listened to. Audible is an excellent way to listen to your favorite books. The 2 narrators for this did a superb job.

I have found this so with most of the books I have with Audible. In the hundreds.
