Easier to Listen to than Read

Would you consider the audio edition of The Dragon Reborn to be better than the print version?

I consider the audio edition of The Dragon Reborn better than the printed edition. In my younger days I tried to read this series but stopped around book 6. I got bored trying to keep up with the characters and all the details the author put into each book. Each book was bringing new characters that were important to the story. The audio edition has made it much to keep up with all the characters and enjoy the details in each book. The actors using so many different but distinct voices for each of the characters has made the series come to life.

Would you recommend The Dragon Reborn to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book if someone was looking for a epic story to read that will keep them entertained for months if not years. This book in particular is a great bridge for building characters and the change of Rand from country boy to the Dragon Reborn.

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer – was your favorite?

I love the voices of Loial and Mat Cauthon. They capture with the essence of each character. Loial speech has measured and thought fully paced with a deep base which is exactly what an Ogier would embody. Mat Cauthon's characteristic of being responsible but yet not wanting the responsibility can be heard in the phrases and tones used. His quick wit and fun loving personality comes through in the annotation and inflection used for his voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were some scenes centered around Perrin and his decisions concerning being a blacksmith as well as his growing relationship with Faile that would often either make me laugh or want to cry.

Absolutely amazing.

if you are enjoying this series so far, you will love this book. Mat finally gets his spot in the sun. Egwene, Nynaeve, and Elayne all get to grow in their own ways. it is incredible.

Would you listen to The Dragon Reborn again? Why?

Lots of detail. I was thinking I would have to listen to the earlier ones again, because the author seems to give little clues about future happenings and I missed details that become important later.

What other book might you compare The Dragon Reborn to and why?

The series reminds me of the Eragon series, but of course, this came 1st.

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer – was your favorite?

Loyal the ogear(spelling?) is my favorite, because he is unlike any character I have read about before.

Any additional comments?

Once you read(listen) to the 1st book, you get hopelessly addicted to the series!

Great series

This is a fun read, I was a little worried at first that a series spanning 14 volumes would be cumbersome and slow, but this story is anything but. If you like fantasy, you'll enjoy this.

Nice reading. easy listening. I enjoyed it in the car and going to sleep or as a background while working.

None, this is my 1st audible book

Any additional comments?

I truly enjoy Robert Jordan's descriptive and immersive writing style. Rather than finding the slow start as a slight draw back to this book I found it to enhance the diverse character development and to help build a greater attachment to the story and the fantasy world in which the characters exist.

Unlike the previous two books, I found the dual narrators to work very well here, alternating based on the perspective from which the story was being told. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to continuing on!

Wonderful Saga

Love this book. Have read most of the series, decided to check it out in audible book format. A good way to enjoy and refresh my memory for what I hope will be the conclusion of the series. If you have lots of time to invest in a long series (14 books) than this is a great listen for you.

What made the experience of listening to The Dragon Reborn the most enjoyable?

I love the way the story keeps flowing from one book to the next in the series. This is the third and yet it doesn't loose any of its great characteristics as the first had. Always keeps me going.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dragon Reborn?

The way Rand has changed, and how Perin is adjusting to his inevitible contact with the wolves and the way the lives of the main characters seem to be interconnected even if they are in different locations.
