Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a simple exorcism, a publicity stunt to firmly establish John and Theodora's thriving paranormal investigation empire in the public eye. But something went wrong, leading to an on-air massacre that unleashed a malicious host of demons and left Theodora catatonic, possessed by countless spirits.

John sets out on a desperate quest to find a cure for his wife, but his obsession brings him face to face with an even more terrifying problem: Theodora's possession is only one piece of a deadly plot that is threatening the entire world. An ancient evil is about to make Earth its battlefield, and without John and Theodora's intervention there is no chance for salvation.

Meh

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story is decent - the writing occasionally borders on the "oh just get to the point" - but the narrator is what really drags this book down.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

A complete and total lack of subtlety - the narrator barely changed voices between individual characters, which isn't always a deal-breaker... but his ability to *act* the individual characters was 2 dimensional and wooden.

Was The Demonists worth the listening time?

Only if you're really into the genre and have nothing else better to listen to.

Unique, realistic fantasy

A new twist on fantasy and the battle between good and evil, elements of the Dresden Files and the Grimnoir Chronicles but fresh. Characters you grow attached to. Looking forward to the next book.

A B-movie of a book.

Relatively enjoyable despite being a fluffy montage of action/horror cliches. The dialogue is often unwittingly (l presume) amusing as many lines are well worthy of the Bluwer-Lytton prize. Appears to be set up as the beginning of a series. I may have to indulge if only for the groans.
