Peter V. Brett has won rave reviews for his internationally best-selling novels, including his stunning debut, The Warded Man.

A continuation of his epic Demon Cycle series, The Daylight War features Inevera, the wife of Jadir, who took center stage in Book 2, The Desert Spear. In this heart-stopping installment, humanity continues to struggle against the demon plague - even as survivors hold out hope that the Deliverer will save them all. On the night of the new moon, the demons rise in force, seeking the deaths of two men, both of whom have the potential to become the fabled Deliverer, the man prophesied to reunite the scattered remnants of humanity in a final push to destroy the demon corelings once and for all.

Strong story believable characters

I am very impressed by this set of books. impressive! The societal behaviors and customs between cultures ring true as much today as in the writing.

Worth the Wait

This is the third book in the series. I read the first two books (hardcover edition) more than a year ago. The third book was well worth the wait, and the narration was perfect. The narrator's voices are perfect for each of the characters.

Flippin’ Awesome

I love this series. It never ceases to amaze me and surprise me. It constantly builds in intrigue, depth and world building. And once again Pete Bradbury is excellent. But DAMN that ending! I still can’t believe it. I’ll find out soon enough with the next installment.

Best series ever

This series has yet to let me down. I’ve never read a book with the story line and plot of this one. It’s a mix of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. Truly amazing.

good but had a bit of a drag to it

personally I am all for doing more for characters, add all the quirks and embellishments you want deepen the characters like the oceans depths. but to deepen the women only through sex and all of its forms and ties... made the woman feel clumsy and 2 dimensional almost like women expect men to write them... badly and as objects used for physical means. the warrior women were under utilized and instead of making the act of sex empowering women it felt more like a cheap excuse. but it is a complex story and the differences between the people are vast and the author gave me the impression like he was trying to impart something with his statements but I think it was done badly it really pulled the story down for me and felt like an opportunity wasted.

Fantastic

I was a little critical of book 2, but only because the first one was so great and it didn't seem to meet my expectations. However, The Daylight War surpassed it and the first one in my opinion. The warded man returned to a semblance of himself from the first, but is tempered and made better by the relationship with Rena. Leesha is still amazing but makes a few mistakes which make her so much more relatable (see my review for book 2 for more on that). I really liked Jardir's progression in the book, he comes to believe in himself instead of Inevera and the dice and it makes it hard to see him as the antagonist. I like the struggle between rooting for and against someone, and seeing the POV that make the character act and not being able to pick good guy bad guy.

A lot of the book is the background of Inevera, just like the second was about Jardir, but I really enjoy stories that switch character POV when going through the same experiences (shoutout to WOT) and the author masterfully did it in this one.

After Inevera's tale catches up to the present, there is a ton of action (the book is daylight WAR) and suspense and I wasn't bored or losing attention at all.

The only complaint I have is the ending is abrupt, and mostly that is because I wanted the story to keep going instead of switching to the next book. 5/5, terrific story telling, and I'm excited for the next one.

Leesha has a big butt and all the men want her

I enjoy these books. No idea why. They aren't great if you think too much. Here are some things that annoy me in no particular order.
The Krashens have way too many complicated jibberish words I can't keep track of. The head Krashen is Jardish but also Amman not to be confused with his crippled little buddy, Ahmed. Or maybe I got that backwards. I'm listening now and can't keep it straight.
The Leesha character is a round titted big butt type. I like that type, but hearing a male narrator talk about it all the time gets old. The author is obviously very horny. I like sex in a book, but this is too much. Don't trick me into reading a romance novel.
I also don't understand how nobody thought to put a ward on their skin till Arlen did it. All these people care about are wards. Your telling me nobody thought about warding skin, weapons, clothes, animals, etc. till Arlen came around? It's been hundreds of years.

Anywho. All gripes aside I am enjoying the books. The narrator is great, and the idea of demons and wards is fun.
