Publisher's summary

Late one evening, en route to visit a relative, an accident leaves Tory - the attractive, twenty-something daughter of a prominent history professor – stranded near a ring of stones in Britain. Tory resolves to spend the night at the stone circle and seek help in the morning.... But across the vortex of time and space, she is taken back to the Dark Age. There she meets Prince Maelgwn of Gwynedd and his band of warriors. Initially her 'strange' appearance frightens them and they believe she is the notorious witch fabled to frequent the site. But she overcomes their fear and soon the tales of her adventures, brave deeds, and beauty spread across the land.

Tiring

The premise of time travel back to the Dark Ages sounded like an interesting read, but after the 1st 6 hours it turned into a ridiculous story about how to manipulate men into marriage while staying "chaste". Too much goddess this and goddess that. The author contradicts herself constantly by trying to profess how strong her women are, with her main character teaching them all Marshal Arts to "protect" themselves, and then in the next sentence talking about how to get a MAN to marry them for "life" by with holding their "favors". Give me a break.
Maybe a good book to help women who have identity or self respect issues and/or feel threatened by men. Maybe this book should be in the Romance category.

One of the best beginnings to a superb trillogy!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because it opens into one of the best trillogies I have ever read. This audio version is excellent.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tori is going to be every ones fave. She represents so much that is true in us and what we should be aspiring to.

What does Edwina Wren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Edwina brough pronunciation of the welsh names that I had only done phonetically from reading the books. Her lilting voice and subtle use of accents and tonal changes for the characters was nicely done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many!

Any additional comments?

When do we get the rest of the trillogies as audio books?

Disappointing

I am disappointed. A friend said they loved this author and highly recommended this book.
I am half way through the audiobook and I feel like I still don't have a good feel for the story line. Either there are portions missing or the author failed to build a good foundation for the rest of the story. I don't know if I can stick it out to the end.

I think the narration could be better as well. The narrator is ok but her presentation of this story is not very appealing.

The Ancient Future

I have loved the book for years and this audio presentation has been beautifully read by Edwina Wren. If you like Romance, Knights, Magicians, Gods and Goddesses as well as Adventure, Mysticism and Time Travel you will love this book. I highly recommend this production.

A Fantastic example of Audible excellence

Traci Harding has written a brilliant story, no weak characters, the story line is amongst the best that I have read. And then there is Edwina Wren, one of the best narrators, I have even had the pleasure of listening to. The perfect partnership between Author and Narrator, a great example of how a audible book can exceed the printed medium.

Captivating

This book has everything. It's magical, romantic, suspenseful, loyalty, love of friends and family. You just don't want it to end. I do know there's two more books. I've already downloaded them. However it looks like this is the only one that was on audible. I'm sorry to hear that. But I will read the books. Thank you for the vacation in time

Interesting enough to keep listening!

The author places an interesting twist on the Merlin legend. It is a bit lame in the entire goddess section, but redeemed itself at the end.
