Publisher's summary

Drizzt Do'Urden has settled in the windswept towns of Icewind Dale. There, he encounters a young barbarian named Wulfgar, captured in a raid and made the ward of a grizzled dwarf name Bruenor. With Drizzt's help, Wulfgar will grow from a feral child to a man with the heart of a dwarf, the instincts of a savage, and the soul of a hero. But it will take even more than that to defeat the demonic power of Crenshininbon, the fabled Crystal Shard.

Perfect combination of author and narrator

Good read for beginners and long-time lovers of the D&D fantasy world. Salvatore writes battles beautifully and Victor Bevine narrates with memorable voices. Mounting excitement both from the author’s words and the narrator’s hastening pace adds greatly to the epic moments of the story.

One of my favorites...

This is the book that got me started on Drizzt and his friends. The battles written by RA Salvatore are truly a wonder to behold. A+

An excellent narration as well!

World Building!

This book focuses more on the setting of Icewind Dale than on our hero Drizzt. Still very good but the focus is different.

Good book, not as good as the first 3 though

The Crystal Shard is enjoyable and the story of Wulfgar is probably the most exciting part of the book. However the constant peril of the first three books is not as present.

Voice over is everything

I don't like the poor voice impressions, the alternate character impressions. I particularly don't like the Arch demon ertu impression, he sounded like a dumb oaf when he was actually was sharp as a whip and incredibly huge powerful. You need to practice deeper voices, sharper use of inflection. The reader did have strong reading accuracy when it came to words, so he just needs a little more practice is all.
