Publisher's summary

"Twoflower was a tourist, the first ever seen on the Discworld. Tourist, Rincewind decided, meant idiot."

Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but that looks completely different. It plays by different rules. Certainly it refuses to succumb to the quaint notion that universes are ruled by pure logic and the harmony of numbers. But just because the Disc is different doesn't mean that some things don't stay the same. Its very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the arrival of the first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land. But if the person charged with maintaining that survival in the face of robbers, mercenaries, and, well, Death, is a spectacularly inept wizard, a little logic might turn out to be a very good idea.

The Colour of Magic is the first novel in Terry Pratchett's acclaimed Discworld series, of which some 20 million copies have been sold.

Horribly abridged

Unfortunately no unabridged version of this book is available here.
The abridged version destroys the immersion for me completely.
Characters are thrown from once place to another, people are introduced and then discarded without further context.
Not recommended.

A lot of the original content is missing.

Read the book. The narrator was good but many parts from the book are missing

Absolute Junk

This guy as a narrator is dry, has such a lack of variety and doesn't read the text with the same emotions or voices as are supposed to be represented in the text. He reads everything monotonously, then will say "screamed the character in terror" or something and you'll have no idea that the character was anything but bored. Also, this abridged version is awful and leaves out so much of the original story. I have no idea why this version was even created and I am furious that I wasted any amount of money on it.

Good book badly narrated

This is not Sir Terry’s best book, but it is fun and essential for any fan. This narration, however, is not. Words are pronounced wrong, characters sound off, and the narrator lacks intonation. Do not waste your credits.

I want Nigel Planer’s version

Terry is so good, he deserves a better performance. I have heard the Nigel Planer version. It is way better.

I wish this was the full version, not the abridged one. Tony Robinson’s narration is pure perfection!

Why didn't Terry Prachat win J K Rowling status?

Can't believe its taken me this long to discover Discworld.

Wildly imaginative

Nice read, although a wild imagination can sometimes be viewed as a bit random in the story-telling. The story jumps around a bit where each story I hoped could be told with a bit more detail, especially in the fight scenes.
