Interesting set-up, lazy ending

Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers!

I liked the world building, and the characters were interesting. My main gripe with this novel is that after going to the trouble to build up an intriguing plot, the author winds up solving everything by just tossing aside the rules of the first 2/3 of the story, making the hero and heroine super-powered, and fixing everything like 'ta-da, Magic!'

Still, the world of Crosspointe was interesting, and I plan to give the next one a chance to be better.

Good story but tough narration

The author wrote a decent enough story though there were parts that felt glossed over and could have used more meat. I've never been a fan of the "bc magic" excuse and I felt it was used a little much. The narrator seems to me to have a hard time making different male voices which leads to confusion at times but her female voice are very well performed.

The most redeeming quality of this novel is the world itself. A very unique and interesting world. I would recommend this book for the world setting itself honestly. The design is phenomenal but the story could have used a bit more substance.

Good Story

I enjoyed this story and the narration. The characters are relatable with human strengths an failings. It is a nice blend of Magic, adventure and adversity.
