An Immersive Gripping Listen

It was a bit of jolt to change narrators from book one to book two, but I love the Lightbringer Series. There is massive character development in this book, although the books stand alone well, you are best served listening in order. A cliffhanger until the end, I can't wait to start book three!

Fantastic sequel

great beginning, great middle, great end. simple as that. sharper than a musketeer with his back to the dawn on Sun Day. Perfect for when you've got a grudge and a hunger.

First of all, I love Simon Vance as the voice of the book. I’m a huge fan.

great book but missing content in chapter 90 and 9

The development of complex characters and so much better then the first book. Reminds be a lot of the night angel series.

Yes if they have read the first book, but it ki nda bothers me that two action scenes are cut short.

Fix the recording to add in the missing content in chapter 90 and 92

An Excellently Built World

Excellent book with some wonderful pacing and exposition. I really got the feel of a world that existed already, and our characters come along and live in it. We discover its history and possibilities through their eyes. Also, the way that the author deals with concepts like the charismatic leader overawing a person and gradually subverting their values a bit at a time is very well done. We see through the eyes of someone who is taken in by the rhetoric of a powerful man, and gradually becomes less and less the person they once were; losing themself a bit at a time. Brent Werks is to be commended.

Brent Weeks is a Wizard.

Lightbringer series starts out slowly in The Black Prism, but grinding through the filler narrative and character building is soooooo worth it. Brent's stories and characters and unique and deep and I'm excited to dive in to the next installment. Simon Vance has quickly become my favorite narrator on Audible. He is easy to listen to and gives characters distinct voices, making conversations flow nicely.

Brent Weeks' best work yet

Brent Weeks is by far my favorite author since the night Angel trilogy but he far surpassed his earlier series with Lightbringer. The narrator of the black prism had a somewhat nasally voice that couldn't quite do justice to the power of weeks' characters. The Blinding Knife however has a new narrator that excels at voicing the personality of the characters, not just the written speech. Overall one of the best audio books I have ever listened to.
