Publisher's summary

The dead rise…

A mysterious incident in Russia, a blip buried in the news - it’s the only warning humanity receives that civilization will soon be destroyed by a single, voracious virus that creates monsters of men.

Humanity falls…

A lawyer, still grieving over the death of his young wife, begins to write as a form of therapy. But he never expected that his anonymous blog and journal would ultimately record humanity’s last days.

The end of the world has begun…

Governments scramble to stop the zombie virus, people panic, so-called Safe Havens are established, the world erupts into chaos; soon it’s every man, woman, and child for themselves. Armed only with makeshift weapons and the will to live, this survivor will give mankind one last chance against…Apocalypse Z.

Another solid zombie apocalypse story.

Nothing new here really. You know what to expect going in and the story delivers. Characters were OK and the narrator does a fine job. Story wise, we've heard it all before but I still enjoyed.

regular zombie story

when it's getting exciting... it ends.

besides that, a nice action/horror novel.

if you liked the walking dead, this will be a cool book for you... I guess one is based on the other as there are many similar zombie tactics between them

Great gore!

The narrative was wonderful and I kept my expectations were low. The story lacked any credibility. The details were silly and repetitive. Buy the gore was awesome! Bonus: a cat as a sidekick!

great bookk

great book 1 can't wait to dive into book 2 ...it was hard to put down once I started good characters ..good storyline kept me wanting to find out what happened next so it's worth buying I've read a lot of apocalypse and zombie novels and and this is one of the better ones ..I will probably read a second time ..I'll write another review after book 2 so here's hoping it's as good as the first ...also the narrator is a big part of what makes a book worth listening to and the narrator for this book is good so see you after book 2

New take

Where does The Beginning of the End rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A good zombiebook and it feels refresehing that the story is taking place i Spain, europe in contrast to all the american zombiebooks.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Beginning of the End?

Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nick Podehl is a great narrator and always delivers and helps the listener in to the different scenes

Any additional comments?

Good buy, will go on the next book in the series

fantastic

Would you listen to The Beginning of the End again? Why?

Yes coz the narration drags you in to the story and the story it self is imaginative and not the usual gonho " I have a gun and can shoot at anything".

What other book might you compare The Beginning of the End to and why?

Day by day Armageddon. Written like a journal and relates personal feelings and experiences.

Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is just fantastic!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely and I really hope that the next book in the series will be translated soon!!!

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the next book ....

My Second Favorite Zombie Book Behind WWZ.

Would you listen to The Beginning of the End again? Why?

YES! I will listen to it again. This story captured me from the first 10 minutes. The story is one of the better of the genre. Next to WWZ it's going to be difficult to find a better zombie book and I love zombie stories.

The performer was excellent. He has a very distinct voice that works for the listener. He captures you with his performance and makes you feel as though you are there.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Luculus the Cat! That poor little guy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I actually loved the beginning of the book when things were falling apart.

Any additional comments?

It's my second favorite Zombie book behind the master classic World War Z.
