The Bane of Yoto | [Joshua Viola, Nicholas Karpuk]

The Bane of Yoto

When a mythical dagger is plunged into his chest, Yoto is transformed from a meek member of an enslaved society into a beast fit for the gods. Will he use his power to free his people...or annihilate them? Some say the Arbitrators existed long before the world was born. Others believe their dark powers spun the fabric of time itself. They are mystery. But here is truth: After ages of formless existence, the Arbitrators craved physicality once more. In their search for a worthy body to inhabit, they destroyed the world Ajyin.

Publisher's Summary

When a mythical dagger is plunged into his chest, Yoto is transformed from a meek member of an enslaved society into a beast fit for the gods. Will he use his power to free his people...or annihilate them?

Some say the Arbitrators existed long before the world was born. Others believe their dark powers spun the fabric of time itself. They are mystery.

But here is truth: After ages of formless existence, the Arbitrators craved physicality once more. In their search for a worthy body to inhabit, they destroyed the world Ajyin - home of the gentle, blue-fleshed Numah and the combative, carapaced Olokun.

But not all was lost. General Vega and his vile Olokun warriors enslaved the remaining Numah. They relocated to Neos, Ajyi's thriving moon.

There, under Vega's imperious rule, the Numah toiled to extract minerals for a defensive barrier called the Aegis Shield. It would protect Neos from the Arbitrator’s return, the General vowed.

However, the Arbitrators' hunger sparked a great fire - a blaze of revenge and revolution that soon found its home in the heart of Yoto, a weak and cowardly Numah. Now Yoto’s days of cowardice are over. He is transformed, a powerful and dangerous being beyond Vega’s control.... And the Arbitrators' dark presence haunts the world of Numah and Olokun once more....

    Story
    "14hr books for 2 buck, there's a reason"

Bland and boring all I can say is there's not one character in this story that I cared about, I'm saying if the story had ended with every one dieing the only thought I'd have is "well they probably deserved it". Story moved so slow at one point I fell asleep while listen and missed bout a two hours but in that time it seems nothing happened seems the story just wait of me to wake up, but I'm not rewinding it to find out. The narrators and the price were the only saving graces here. Oh and i found the music between book parts very annoying.

    "Finally on audio"
What made the experience of listening to The Bane of Yoto the most enjoyable?

Read the 5 time winning book and loved it. Been waiting for audio version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Yoto or Cadoc.

Which character – as performed by J. D. Hart and Deb Thomas – was your favorite?

Yoto was done well. As was Eon. Wasn't too fond of the female voice work though.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but 14 hours is too much for a single sitting.

    Any additional comments?

Great story. Very good production value. Well worth the low price.
