Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.

Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

I'd forgotten how awesome Mistborn books were :)

I'd forgotten how awesome Mistborn books were :). I particularly live how Wax and Wayne use their "magic powers" in incredible and realistic ways to achieve their goals.

Another fine mistborn mystery.

New characters were excellent. Now with the flare of the wild west. Great adventure.

Mistborn's immature younger sibling

The first 3 books were deep and intricate storytelling. These 3 feel like a mediocre sitcom about a superhero version of Sherlock Holmes. Far too much silly canned humor. I lost a lot of sleep with the first novels and pretty much just rolled my eyes with these. Wasn't terrible or anything but feels like it was written by someone else with a lot less experience. I keep thinking maybe he wrote them so his young children could enjoy the world he created or something.

Pure love

I love dragonsteels books more than freaking anything. This series was literally an unplanned side project and it ends up being one of the best. Sanderson is unreal

Good urban western

So far I think I like Mistborn better, but I’m really enjoying this series as well. Wax and Wayne have a great dynamic and the world feels like it’s progressed in a natural but cool way. If you like shoot-em-ups with fun and likable characters, you’ll have a good time.

Great Continuation

picks up 300 years after the conclusion of the Mistborn series, taking place in the new city of Elandell. A new, older protagonist and his sidekick and a girl they picked up uncover the first bit of a grand conspiracy. it has a western vibe to it, occuring at a time period with technology and society roughly akin to our 1850s-1910s America. overall, it was an extremely satisfying continuation from the Mistborn series and promises to spawn a new series which I'm now compelled to listen to.
