Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.

Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

Excellent - except

Would have given 4 stars (good story and narration) but was obviously only the first half of the book which had no reason to be split other than to make more money.

Really fun!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Alloy of Law to be better than the print version?

Yes, the narrator is fantastic.

What other book might you compare The Alloy of Law to and why?

Mistborn, it takes place in the same world but 400 or so years later, with a ancestor of one the characters from that series.

What about Michael Kramer’s performance did you like?

Everything, he also did the Wheel of Time series and knocked it out of the park there too.

I was completely suprised. The scope is much smaller but the story is just as engaging. the change to allomacy from Era one os really interesting. the twin born aspect is amazing as well.

Good

Story was very good but not quite as captivating as his other works. He has set the bar very high before.

A bit short, but good

It's a Mistborn novel. What can I say? It was fun. New characters, and the fact that no character is Mistborn, but rather twinborn, makes the stakes higher. The characters don't have pewter to make everything better, and so the combat is different.

Sanderson Delivers in Alloy

Michael Kramer gives an awesome performance reading Brandon Sanderson's "The Alloy of Law". A quick jaunt into the Mistborn universe, Alloy of Law is a fast paced adventure in the style of a turn of the century western, and even a train robbery. Top marks for Sanderson and Kramer. Fun to listen to even the third or forth time.

Mistborn meets the Wild West

What did you like best about this story?

Brandon Sanderson continues to wow me. I truly enjoyed the Mistborn series so I was a little hesitant when I read the preview. But I was blown away by Sanderson's ability to introduce a new time and new characters while sticking with what made Mistborn such a great series.

Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the complete Wheel of Time series and the Mistborn series. This book compares with both. Michael Kramer is an excellent narrator and continues with this book.

Any additional comments?

Awsome read

Loved it. Intense and gripping will keep wanting more and more. Worthy of the trilogy and should have just been book 4. Looking forward to the next in the series.
