Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.

Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

good, but short

following the epic story line of the Mistborn novels, this one feels rather short. it's still enjoyable.

Can’t go wrong with Sanderson

Super cool continuation of the Mistborn world. It’s always hard for authors to continue a series without the old characters, but this is amazing. Can’t wait for more!

Puts a smile on your face with this duo w&w

Loved this book.
Good thing I understood the back ground of powers. Short but must read if you read previous cause you will miss out on a Gem here if you don't.
My reason for high rating is that this book had me laughing so much. This duo of Wax and Wayne is spectacular

Great continuation of the Mistborn trilogy

Great follow up to the trilogy. Sanderson is always clever, and this lives up to expectations. Read the Mistborn series first since it will help readers understand important plot points and references. Other not a spiritual or religious as the first series, there are many nods to similar themes.

I need more Mistborn!!!

To follow up one of the best series of all time, not bad!!! The Alloy of Law is another great book by Brandon Sanderson.I miss Vin and Ellen and the rest of the crew, but Brandon finds a great way to make a come back 300 years later.Wax is a great detective with a great sidekick named Wayne with an Aussie accent!!! It's great to see how Elendal has grown so beautiful since the dry days of The Lord Ruler!!! Waxillium knows how to push on metals with Allomancy and use his Feruchemy!!! With the modern age of trains and skyscrapers Wax knows the way of the guns also!! Wayne is a thief who hates and knows little of guns but makes a great partner.. Together with some help of a girl they will try to take down a ring of thieves and leave it wide open for a second book!! A great start to another great series!!!

Fun and Entertaining, but not as good as original Mistborn

Not my favorite Sanderson novel. BUT, he’s so good that even his average effort is steps ahead of most fantasy authors.

You definitely need to read the original Mistborn series to appreciate the details in this book.

If you haven’t read Warbreaker or Elantris, invest your valuable reading/listening time on these spectacular Sanderson novels first!

Amazing

Everything I loved from Mistborn, the great content and voice performance, coupled with guns, what else could I ask for? I think that Kramer really shines in this performance through one character in particular who allows him to show off his talent.
