Terminal Island | [Walter Greatshell]

Terminal Island

As a child, Henry Cadmus lived on Catalina Island, a scenic vacationland off the Southern California coast. But Henry's experiences were far from idyllic. Today, even though Henry has seen firsthand the horrors of war, the ghastly images that haunt his dreams are ones he associates with his childhood... and the island: a snarling pig-man holding a cleaver; a jackal-headed woman on a high balcony, dripping blood; strange occult rituals... and worse. If it was up to Henry, he would avoid the island entirely.

Audible Editor Reviews

Mysteries of the past and present collide in the surreal horror of Terminal Island. This tense, fraught tale follows a grown man trying to come to terms with his childhood and track down his missing mother on California's Catalina Island, which becomes the setting for a series of disturbing flashbacks featuring a butcher wearing a pig's head, monsters trying to drown people, a pagan cult with bizarre rituals, and other unsavory elements. Fans of H. P. Lovecraft or the 1970s British horror flick The Wicker Man will find plenty to enjoy in this engrossing listen, which is expertly narrated in John Morgan's deep, rich tones.

Publisher's Summary

As a child, Henry Cadmus lived on Catalina Island, a scenic vacationland off the Southern California coast. But Henry's experiences were far from idyllic. But Henry is returning to Catalina Island. At his wife Ruby's insistence, Henry, Ruby, and their infant daughter are coming to Avalon, so that Henry can face his fears, exorcise his demons, and reconcile with the one he dreads most... his mother.

From Walter Greatshell, author of Xombies, comes Terminal Island, a novel of cosmic horror.
