Dara Rosenberg can't read or doesn't know English

I enjoyed the book. MY only issue is the narrator can't pronounce many every day words. I lost count how many times she spoke words incorrectly. Breaks the momentum for me when things as simple as the word "cache" get buchered repeatedly.

She ha a really weird inflection on all of the lines, almost talking like a valley girl. it was kinda distracting.

Disappointed after a good first book

Would you try another book from Elaine Cunningham and/or Dara Rosenberg?

I would try another Elaine Cunningham book but never another book by the narrator.

Has Tangled Webs turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes!

Would you be willing to try another one of Dara Rosenberg’s performances?

Absolutely not. Her performance is not a hideous as the first book where she split sentences in two and mispronounced half of the words, but it is still like nails on a chalkboard. I sense nepotism that she even was hired to read. She ruined an "okay" book.

Could you see Tangled Webs being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Oh hell no. This story went off of the cliff. Far too many disparate parts and a rushed ending.

Any additional comments?

This series had promise with book 1. They should have stayed in the Underdark.

One of the Best Forgotten Realm's Books

Tangled Webs is Elaine Cunningham at her best here in Tangled Web. The story takes full advantage of the rich Forgotten Realms setting and crafts a tale with plenty of action, character development, plot twists, excitement and even a dash of humor. This is the sort of fun fantasy book that you just can't put down.

Tangled Webs builds off the excellent Daughter of the Drow and turns everything up to 11. One half a road trip by sea and one half a intrigue plot the book keeps you guess and the story moving. The new villains and supporting characters are great increasing the stakes to their highest yet. Liriel and her companion continue to be great characters. As a protagonist Liriel continue to be a delight with her flippant attitude, love of life and proactive willingness to confront her foes rather than wait to be attacking like most heroes.

Once again the audio quality is the only really negative here. While the reading is better than the first the recording quality and editing are really terrible and need to be brought up the level that this novel deserves.

Okay Story - Poor Performance

This is not a slight against who voiced the book! But at the producers and recording team. You can tell that she recorded this in a few locations. The sound quality, tone, tempo, and volume will change mid sentence and ruin what’re buildup you had coming.

A great book ruined.

Oh, so many times I had to stop. So many times I had to go do something else. It took me so long to get through this.

Elaine Cunningham wrote a wonderful book with fascinating characters, some possessed of unexpected depth, and it's truly enjoyable.

Dara Rosenberg butchered it. From abject failure to pronounce simple English words to an inability to speak in conversational tone, to voices leant to characters that badly mismatch the characters' personalities and archetypes, Dara manages to make listening to this story a chore. Regrettably, as I know I'll never make myself focus on reading the book off a page, I am bereft of options; I plunge once more into the breach to complete Cunningham's saga, armed with a thesaurus of expletives, ready to curse the name of Rosenberg at every mangled fifth word.

bad narration

horrible pronunciation of many different words. countless edits of another's voice into the narrative. overall just really hard to listen to. the saving grace is the story itself. very well written

Elaine Cunningham is a brilliant engaging writer

Sadly, Dara Rosenberg is a painful reader who seems dead set on torturing the words. She is aided and abetted in this travesty by the fact that the quality of the recording shifts, often in mid sentence. If I hadn't read the book first, I certainly never would have found out how badly Elaine Cunningham's words had been mangled and distorted. I'm forced to ask, how does Dana Rosenberg have a job reading books for Audible? It certainly isn't because of any talent or ability. I'd sooner listen to a cat in distress, a screaming infant, and a garbage disposal trying to chop glass&silver wear, all at the same time, than another sentence from her voice.
The truly sad part was that I had been so looking forward to revisiting these books that I hadn't read in 25 years. Now they are forever tainted in my mind.
