Publisher's summary

Recovering witch Garnet Lacey owns Wisconsin's premier occult bookstore. And a fringe benefit of the job is getting customers like Sebastian Von Traum - piercing brown eyes, a sexy accent, and a killer body. The only thing missing is an aura. Which means he's dead. And that means trouble - something Garnet's a sucker for....

Technical difficulties?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend the authur and the story, but not the audible version. There are an overwhelming number of instances of POOR editing. So many that it distracts from the overall experience of this book. But I do enjoy Amanda Ronconi and look for books she has narrated. .

Good...

Tall, Dark, and Dead has a great blend of folklore/mythology that kept me listening to the end. There are witches, Vatican witch hunters, and vampires galore, but Hallaway offers a different take on Vampire lore that is fresh and intriguing. There are the "traditionally" made vampires, and then there is Sebastian. Walking in the daylight is not the only oddity about Sebastian either. While the story is interesting, the characters didn't really do it for me. The book was a decent listen that I did enjoy and would recommend to vampire fans, but unlike with some other series, I didn't have the desire to rush out and buy the second book. I'm not sure I will get around to reading the other Garnet Lacey books anytime soon. I am a huge fan of Ronconi as a narrator, and she did not disappoint here. She was actually the reason I picked up the book in the first place.

All-in-all a good listen.

Love Amanda Ronconi's narration!

I'm a Molly Harper fan, but having listened to all of those, tried this. I guess I like a little more "snark", but this was pretty good. Interesting universe, if still a bit ill-defined.

Book has glitches

I enjoyed the book and the narration was great. The only problem was that in several places throughout the book there were technical glitches where words overlapped or were just garbled completely.

I will continue with the series. Hopefully the next books won't have issues.

a good listen.

I really enjoy listening to amanda ronconi telling stories. She is funny and silly and she really brings life to a story. This book was entertaining and enjoyable. There were some editing issues that were very obvious but it was brief and not a big deal. The story doesn't have a great deal of action its not really edge of your seat but still i enjoyed it.

Good story!

I love the actual story and I enjoy all the characters except Garnet I even like her somewhat but she seemed confused and very judge mental she judged every one's character but her own and at times seemed very selfish, she was in a place of power on her own but let everyone around her either defend her or be hurt it just got on my nerves.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It is one of the more light-hearted para-normal books and while it is never laugh-out-loud funny, it is totally amusing.

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

Amanda does a full range of voices never leaving you wondering which character is supposed to be talking! Very articulate.

Entertaining

A good listen. I'm not really into the vampire thing, but this story was good. The narrator performed the story well. I liked the witch/magic parts, but am not too into the sex scenes in general. For the sex scenes there were very few and what there were had been written well. An overall enjoyable enough listen that I've started the next book in the series.

Not great. But ok.

I chose this book because I really like the narrator, Amanda Ronconi and she was very good. I found myself wishing that there was a preface to give a deeper background for Garnet's character.

Also, the ending was very abrupt. As I said it was ok but won't become one of my repeat listens.

I loved this book

I wasn't sure this book wouldn't be cheesy and overdone with Middle School appeal (witch clichés, vampire romance, and dumb magic spells to fix any situation). Hence I bought the book when it was on sale, and nearly forgot about it. Nearly 10 months passed before I decided to give it a try! What can I say? Now I'm hooked. It wasn't cliché or middle school at all, I found it delightful, intriguing, and entertaining. I would recommend this to anyone who likes adult friendly supernatural stories, especially those who like to read books in a series! Anyway, I can't want to start book 2 in this series!
