Publisher's summary

Survivors is the all-new soul-shattering climax to the postapocalyptic trilogy, featuring a deadly virus, military action, global devastation - and zombies.

A lot can change in three months: Wars can be decided, nations can be forged...or entire species can be brought to the brink of annihilation. The Morningstar Virus, an incredibly virulent disease, has swept the face of the planet, infecting billions. The infected hosts rampage, attacking anything that remains uninfected. Even death can’t stop the virus - its victims become frightening and deadly cannibals. Scattered across the world, embattled groups have persevered. For some, surviving is the pinnacle of achievement. Others hoard goods and weapons. And still others leverage power over the remnants of humanity in the form of a mysterious cure for Morningstar. For the survivors, the peril remains, and the search for a cure goes on....

Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?

Perfect, glad Mr Wyman did all three

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but just could not due to time constraints

Any additional comments?

A great listen, the whole series is well worth the time

As good as you could expect it to be

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book suffers due to the book being finished by a different author. I really enjoyed the book and am not trashing it but the ending was too neat and tidy. It could have used a hundred more pages in my opinion to wrap it up better.

It is worth your time though

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brewster - He grows up in this book

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voices and characterizations are very well done.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Excellent final book in this outstanding series

What did you love best about Survivors?

The continued weaving of this story in book three. It is always great to see an author really continue a story through three books to such a high standard. I really enjoyed each book. I was sad to reach the end.

What other book might you compare Survivors to and why?

The Dog Stars by Peter Heller is great if you enjoyed these books. It doesn't have all the excitement with the dead coming back to life. It is more thoughtful and hopeful.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He did an excellent job developing each character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

I liked it

I don't get all the negative reviews on this book. Ok it's not the original author as he passed away. It would have been nice if he had finished the series, but tragedy struck.

I think Thom did a very good job finishing things up. The story moved along much in the way I think Recht would have written it. Is it perfect no, but I was entertained and looked forward to putting the the headset on to listen to the story. I am glad I stuck the series out. I am a Zombie fan and this one did a great job taking it from the military approach to the rag tag band of survivors. I recommend the series to anyone who likes then genera, you won't be disappointed

This was a good story, all 3 parts

I nod the complete story, and it was very well read. I would strongly recommend this story to anyone who may be interested in zombie type books.

The most inconsistent narration of all audible

Title says it all, pardon my french but that was the most half A**ed narration I've ever heard. Mismatched voices and accents amongst the survivors ,no effort at all reading foreign languages... especially when that character is a fluent native but sounds like a robot speaking their own fluent languaget. Last but not least, reading a live narration almost as if reading a script for the first time. I really hope the Narrator has improved. If not then I think he has no business in any Audible narration. Beyond the constructive criticism...

The story was great, I felt close to the survivors throughout the series. I guess in times like these any survivor can lose a life in unexpected moments. This gives a better understanding to the term, total war.

Wanted Recht's Style and Narrator's Consistency...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book, but only as part of the series. The Morningstar Strain, Book 1, was my first introduction to the zombie genre. It's hard to find that perfect blend of memorable characters (General Francis Sherman and Sergeant Major Thomas were brilliant!), military action, and knuckle-whitening chills in a zombie apocalypse. More so in the first two books than in the third. Only Day By Day Armageddon, by J.L. Borne, is on par with Recht's books. In Survivors, the style is inconsistent, but I understand why and doubt anyone could mirror Z.A.'s unique vision. I am grateful to the family for releasing Z.A. Recht's final volume, and to Thom Brannan for completing the work. Thank you.

Would you recommend Survivors to your friends? Why or why not?

Not without first reading the other two books.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Oliver Wyman's voice is normally my audiodrug of choice, but what happened to Brewster and the others? I can't read Morningstar without hearing Wynman's characterization as portrayed in the first two books! Then Survivors happened. Why Wynman?!! Couldn't you have just taken a moment to listen to Brewster from your previous recordings? I'm just saying.

Do you think Survivors needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

If only.

One of the best zombie series I've read

Great series. The plague actually seemed plausible and was obviously well thought out. Although I originally bought the first two together I hesitated to buy the third based on the reviews even though it was on sale. After finishing the second I immediately purchased Survivors. Unlike others, I really liked Survivors and appreciated the closure it provided. Maybe it was due to the same narrator being used but I felt the transition between authors went smoothly. The narrator by the way was FANTASTIC!
