Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus, which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with best-selling writer Seth Mortensen, she's been so wicked that Seattle's uber-demon Jerome, decides to "outsource" Georgina to a rival--and have her spy for him in the process.
Being exiled to the frozen north--okay, Vancouver--and leaving Seth in the cozy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there's nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth--nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who's been playing them--or all hell will break loose.

Reapprearence of Roman! yay
The mystery: Where, why and how the hell Jerome went missing
Georgina and gang without the immortal powers
Georgina how can you not see the traitor who is RIGHT in front of you!
The Climax was just a bit too rushed....
I like the fact that Seth's character got more "human" than the goody-goody too good to be true guy in this book. From the first book, I have been wondering if there is more to Seth than which meets the eye. I wonder if he's like a reincarnation of Georgina's first husband or any/all of her good mortal loves in the past.
I started this series thinking it was enjoyable but each book has drawn me in more and more and I'm now hooked. The characters are growing in complexity and I like that nothing is totally good or bad. I can't wait for my next credit, I'm forking over money for this one. The narrator is excellent.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
I would listen to this entire series again...I love Georgina and the gang...this series is supernatural genius...I love the world that Mead has created...its very believable!
Georgina as always! She is awesome!
She is the best Georgina possible....I couldn't imagine her any other way!
When the gang took care of Georgina after her attack...they are a family!
I love Georgina and am about to start #5....As I have said before I hope Georgina gets what she deserves...I want her to be happy, she deserves to be happy! Even though this was my least favorite of the series, I still liked it very much..and the ending of this one kinda broke my heart for Georgina just a little bit...I highly recommend this entire series!!!!
Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Book Review Blogger.
I can't empathize enough on how outstanding this entire series is and it's also an absolute must read in my books but this particular installment really wowed me. It quite possibly might be my favourite one yet. However, I seem to say that every time I review one of the Georgina Kincaid novels so it's hard to say for sure. What is clear is the fact that if you haven't given this series a try yet then you're missing out! Plus, narrator Elisabeth Rodgers really gives these stories an extra boost. For me, she's become the official voice of Georgie.
I have to start off by saying that I absolutely adored the plot line of this book! Georgina has been a bad succubus and, as a result, has been shipped off to Vancouver to deal with the "evil satanist Canadians". It's so rare to find a Canadian local in paranormal fiction that when it does happen I can't help but get a little giddy. I disagree with my fellow canucks being portrayed as wicked but then again that's what makes this story so hilarious. However, this is only a small part of what this book is really all about. Conspiracies, betrayal and second chances are just a few of the things that you can expect to find in this installment. Richelle Mead has outdone herself with this one!
Georgina and her crew of supernatural misfits find themselves temporarily stripped of their powers. This opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for the characters in this series. The vampires loved it because they're finally able to work on their tan but Kincaid... not so much. At least at first. This is the most vulnerable that I've ever seen her. She's normally a balls-to-the-wall type of girl but in this installment she's afraid of everything. Before the reasons and limitations of her succubus mojo is explained she has no idea what's going on. Is she mortal? Can she get pregnant? Is she free of her contract with Hell? Georgie has been invincible for millenia and then all of a sudden she's afraid to go outside, to cross the road, to smoke a cigarette, etc. It was interesting to watch a powerful succubus become scared of her own shadow.
After Succubus Dreams I thought that Seth was a thing of the past. Even though I was sad with how their relationship played out I was also excited about seeing Georgina move on with her life. This book doesn't make everything better but it does provide some temporary relief where Mortensen is concerned. I don't want to give too much of their story away because it's a good one but Mead does a great job of finding a temporary solution to their problems. Although, the ending was like a slap in the face; adding insult to injury so to speak. I'm so frustrated with Richelle right now! But then again, I guess that's what keeps me coming back for more.
I can't wait to see what's in store for Georgina Kincaid in Succubus Shadows. In case I wasn't clear in my review: I love this book, I love this series and you NEED to read all things Georgie!
Oh no, please don't tell me there is only one more book in this series. It is SO good---excellent plot, really good writing and terrific narration. I know it's not heavy literature, but it's very involving and entertaining.
I won't spoil what happens for anyone, but suffice it to say, this is alternately funny and sad.
I want more Georgina and Seth. Only one more book.
You can't help but develop a fondness for the main charaters in this book. Great story.
The next book comes out in March. I can't wait!
I live on the Gulf of Mexico and I love to listen and walk the day away along God's beautiful grace.
A great series to listen to, you will fall in love with Georgina, shes funny, silly, and sexy all in one...get all 5..
Probably one of the best entries in the series yet. This book deals with a variety of very serious issues and presents some very real threats both to Georgina and her friends and to the entire hierarchy of power in Seattle. Themes of betrayal in various forms run strong here, as do issues of trust, both knowing who you can trust and knowing when to trust and not to trust. The status quo is shaken from top to bottom, and as with previous volumes in the series, nothing will be the same again once all is said and done here.
Georgina has been trolling around at rock bottom in the months since her spectacular and heart-rending breakup with Seth in Succubus Dreams. She's since hooked up with Dante, a human psychic that we met in that book, much to the dismay and disgust of her friends. Instead of the caring and charming woman that we've known so far in this series, she's become bitter and angry, caught in a downward spiral of drinking and evil-doing that seems more than a little unlike her. The situations she is thrown into here, however, make her re-examine her attitudes and her reactions to everything that has happened to her, and thankfully serve as a catalyst to bring her out of her funk and restore her mostly to her former self. Of course, given the nature of some of the trials she has to face, it's inevitable that they will leave her changed as well, though this time it seems the change will be for the better going forward.
Characters and storylines from previous books resurface here, some which it had been obvious would be continuing but also some that are a bit surprising in their return. Because of this I'd highly recommend reading this series in order, for while the basics of who people are and what has happened previously do get explained here, you'll most likely be lost here if you haven't read the previous books. This is partly due to the way the author so adeptly throws out things that seem to be a minor detail at the time but later gain much greater significance, and not every allusion to previous events gets explained enough to really give the reader a complete appreciation of the intricate storylines at play here. Even if it hadn't been obvious before, it's completely obvious by the end of this book that this series is telling a larger, likely finite story, with each book revealing just enough more of the larger picture to keep the reader intrigued and reading on.
In summary, I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who has been following the series and agree with what I've heard many say regarding this being probably the best one of all, at least so far. If you haven't read the previous books, definitely go back and start with book one to get the full effect of the series. 5 solid stars to a book that held me enthralled from beginning to end.
Reading is a must-have ESCAPE...
This was by far the best of the first five editions to the series. Unlike earlier editions, all the mystery & intrigue that develops is interconnected and revealed near the story's conclusion. The previous cast, including a reappearance of Roman, was utilized exceptionally well along with a host of newcomers.
Georgina's arch-Demon Jerome is kidnapped leaving all those within his purview free from their abilities... vamps can walk in the sun and Georgina can have sex without taking their life energy! Seth & Georgina take advantage of this new found freedom at the expense of tainting their souls. Both are torn over their respect and love for Maddie and wrestle with the guilt of their betrayal. The dark magician introduced in Book 3, Dante, disarms us with his endearment of Georgina. Many others have negatively commented on having lost respect for Georgina & Seth due to their infidelity, but I found their moral struggle realistic. I especially felt Georgina's moral inner conflict and found sympathy with both couples. Again, rocking installment!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
Everything......The storyline, the narration....The anticipation to know what is going to happen is killing me, yet I don't want it to end............
Georgina of course!!! She is funny, loving and strong and takes her job as a succubus in stride with no shame.....
ER does a fabulous job narrating, she performs all characters wonderfully but Georgie is the bessssssst!
I am always sad when Georgina is sad but she takes it a little better than book 3. I cried in book 3 but not this one....she is sooo strong and giving I just know she has to win in the end!!!!!!
Of course start with book 1 you won't be disappointed. I am like Georgina in that I have stretched this series as long as I can because I don't want it to end!!!!!!!!!!!!
