Publisher's summary

My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk. I'm a wizard. I work out of an office in midtown Chicago. As far as I know, I'm the only openly practicing professional wizard in the country. You can find me in the yellow pages, under Wizards. Believe it or not, I'm the only one there.

With rent past due and a decent meal becoming an issue of some importance, Harry needs work, and soon. A call from a distraught wife, and another from Lt. Murphy of the Chicago PD Special Investigation Unit makes Harry believe things are looking up, but they are about to get worse, much worse. Someone is harnessing immense supernatural forces to commit a series of grisly murders. Someone has violated the first law of magic: Thou Shalt Not Kill. Tracking that someone takes Harry into the dangerous underbelly of Chicago, from mobsters to vampires, while he himself is under suspicion of the crimes.

What an amazing story!

Great book, great narrater. Needed a little more work with regards to limiting breathing etc. during the reading, but I enjoyed the performance, the story and the characters immensely. Definitely recommend this one, and I can't wait to begin the second book in the series 😍

wild nonstop wizarding ride

dry humor and interesting take on adult oriented Harry Potter mixed with a private eye type of mystery

fantastic

I really enjoyed the narrator and how he brought the character to life. he seems to read in such a way that I could believe that this was a radio show like in the old days. it's just missing the sound effects. he gives deep emotion with just his breathing. it makes me really feel like Dresden is a very real person with very real struggles and emotions. also Bob might be my favorite character. Don't tell Dresden! JK! but Bob is definitely my second favorite character and my number one favorite magical sidekick so far. although Toot Toot is close second.

Don't Drink and Record

VA sounds drunk the whole time and certain lines hurt me to hear because of mouth sounds and awkward timing. Still not sure if it was a choice (to match Dresden's character) or if he was just actually drunk.

Great story, Awesome Narrator!

I loved the way he reads the book, I love the book itself as well but he made that story come to life! I’ll definitely listen to more from him!

awasome book.

A really good book has a good mystery and detective plot. I read his Ninth book and got interested in his series. The bits and pieces of the book are funny.

The biggest gripe was lost in the performance.

HATED the biological noises, but completely stopped caring almost immediately, it was just that good of a performance and story!

Would recommend. 👍

Anazing

I had read a few of these books years ago, and just found them on audible and decided to give them another go. they are still incredibly fun. Great characters, incredible world building, and an awesome narrator.
