Definitely told through a "male gaze"
This is definitely told through a male gaze...which can be a little irritating. That being said, the main character is dynamic and the story is engaging and entertaining. I hear that the books get better after the 2nd or 3rd installment. I am enjoying the character development of the main character and hope that other characters are just as strong as the series progresses. :)

absolutely brilliant! I'm so absorbed into the adventures of Harry Dresden and this is only the first book. I look forward to devouring this series like a rabid frog demon.

Dresden Files get better with each book
I read the first few books long ago and am so excited that I found the audio books. It takes longer to get going than I remember but it is well worth the time invested! I see a lot of rating bashing the narrator, but after the first several chapters I got used to it and actually feel that he was able to portray Dresden fairly well. In any case, if you enjoy this book at all, I feel confident that you will become increasingly enthralled as you partake further into the series.

Well written and great story telling method
Its generally about a modern day wizard trying to make an honest living in the city wiht his particular talents. I rooted for the main character the entire book because as opposed to steretypical wizards like merlin or gandalf hes human and lives just like us with imperfections and hopes. Good mature strory peppered with some comic relief. Im anxious the for my next credits so I can continue onto the other books. They also made this into a TV series but of course books will always be better than movies simply because one's imagination is not bound by technology.

Epic narration for an amazing book!
This is a great start for Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden! James Marsters provides a good start for the dresden files series and throughout the series his voice becomes Dresden! I can't wait to listen to the next book!
