Publisher's summary

My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk. I'm a wizard. I work out of an office in midtown Chicago. As far as I know, I'm the only openly practicing professional wizard in the country. You can find me in the yellow pages, under Wizards. Believe it or not, I'm the only one there.

With rent past due and a decent meal becoming an issue of some importance, Harry needs work, and soon. A call from a distraught wife, and another from Lt. Murphy of the Chicago PD Special Investigation Unit makes Harry believe things are looking up, but they are about to get worse, much worse. Someone is harnessing immense supernatural forces to commit a series of grisly murders. Someone has violated the first law of magic: Thou Shalt Not Kill. Tracking that someone takes Harry into the dangerous underbelly of Chicago, from mobsters to vampires, while he himself is under suspicion of the crimes.

Narator just fine

I almost didn't buy the book because of negative reviews about the narator. The narator is just fine. And the book was great. So go ahead. Listen and enjoy.

Good Start, Excited to See Where it Goes

I think that the narrator did a great job of embracing the personality of Harry Dresden. I think that the plot itself was good, and I really like the premise. This felt like the start of something that will continue to evolve and improve.

Great book

First audiobook I've had and I really enjoyed it. The descriptions were very nicely done by the author and the narrator did not put me to sleep.

What's not to love?

A great story read by a great actor so what's not to love?! I've read The Dresden Files a couple of times already and wanted to try the audio. Have already bought a couple more of the series as audios because the combination of the "voices" of Dresden and Spike is simply to good not to keep on listening to. Love it!

Quirky and fun

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A wizard for a detective? Great idea.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarcastic, a loner, yet with a heart of gold, the wizard is interesting with his foibles but unshakeable morality.

What about James Marsters’s performance did you like?

At first he seems very monotone. For the first 2 seconds, I thought,

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep.

great Narration, Interesting characters.

If you could sum up Storm Front in three words, what would they be?

Crime fighting wizard

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I enjoyed the female detective and her role, it would have been great to get more back story and development of her character, I haven't listened to the next book in the series but I would assume that she becomes more influential.

Any additional comments?

The narration was great, and the book overall was a good listen, well worth the time; however it wasn't the best audio book I have listened to in recent months. I will listen to the next book in the series, but feel that I would drift if it is only the same sort of plot and premises as the first novel.
