Sorry to see the series end

I am a fan of military Sci-Fi. I read the other two books in the series (you must read this series in order) and knew this was the last book. I was wondering how Campbell was going to end it, I was thinking up all types of scenarios. The politics was interesting sort of reminds you of what is going on today in Washington. The space and land battles descriptions were fantastic. Campbell is a master of space battles. I will not give away the end but Campbell did an excellent job of tying up all the ends and coming up with a reasonable ending. I have read all the Jag in Space series and the Lost Fleet which I am keeping current on as Campbell writes them. I hope Audible has books under his real name of John Henry as I want to keep reading his books. Eric M. Summerer did a great job with the narration.

A fine conclusion

If you've read the previous 2 books then this is a must-read. It has good periods of military action balanced by periods of strategic planning, and enough action to keep things interesting throughout. With the last half of the book working to the inevitable climax, the book ends with a very satisfying conclusion.

Hey Jack, I am disabled big time, ex paramedic, on fixed income.
Books and tv are all I have.
I really need to use audible as at 56 my eyes get tired and I fall asleep.
You and other writers could have audible lower prices please.
I have read all Lost Fleet, Lost Stars amd Stark series in last 4 months.
5 of them are audible in last month. 6 of 3 abovce were kindle, and all of these I have in print from last year (except new releases).

Look out, this story is an omen

Just finished Stark series. Jack did a great job of keeping it going. Now I'm looking forward to his JAG series. I think we should encourage the Military and Politicos to read this series. I hate to say it, but it almost looks like Jack has a crystal Ball.

Only for Military geeks!

While the concept of these three books is good the character of Stark is so godlike in his humility and caring for his soldiers as to be completely unbelievable. The battle scenes take up a considerable proportion of the three books - without them it could have been one large volume instead of three. If you like military rah, rah, then you may enjoy the story but for me it became increasingly tedious and predictable. Fortunately in John Henry's later books his characters become less one dimensional and more interesting.

What will happen to mutiners?

They didn't want to disobey orders but it was the right thing to do. I enjoyed it. It is an interesting what if story.

Brought back many memories

I like that you write with realism about military life, the good and the bad.

Draggy & preachy

The telegraphed end state took a long time to get there

I think book two and three could have been combined

Entertaining

Enjoyable military sci-fi of a new storyline.
Admittedly an early work for the author but still pretty darn good.
