"One of the best narrations I've experienced"

Do you know how sometimes you hear a story and a few days after it's over, you're still stuck in that world? That's my experience with Stardust. It's an imaginative and lovely adult fairytale with glorious prose, and it will leave you wishing we had more adult fairytales like this one. By the end of the story, the characters have more depth than in a typical fairytale, which I appreciated. That said, it's not my all-time favorite story.

Gaiman's narration is a huge part of the reason why I'm still thinking of Stardust two days after finishing it. It's magnificent. Each character has his/her own voice, and there's just something so pleasant--for lack of a better word--about the performance. It's exciting and entertaining, but the general narration (not characters' voices) is still somehow soft, like in a bedtime story. (I'm probably about to buy everything Gaiman has ever narrated.)

Awesome. The gift edition with the added interview at the end is definitely worth it. One of my favorite stories of all time.

    "Great Story. Great Narrator"

Anyone apprehensive about an author reading their own work should put their worries to rest. Gaiman is a great reader, and the story is magical, indeed.

    "A good adventure."

This is my first book by Neil Gaiman, I enjoyed it enough that I will read more of his work in the future. Although this is supposed to be an adventurous romance story, there was only a little romance to it. But there was lots of adventure even if the ending was anticlimactic. I went home and watched the movie right after listening to this and I like the ending on that version better. As for this being an Adult fairytale, it was pretty tame. This was one of those books that I bought on my kindle and then purchased the whispersync version and only paid around $5 for both. Usually when an author narrates his own book it doesn't work out, but Neil Gaiman could easily get a second job as a narrator for audible he was good.

    "Charming"

Although I am not particularly a fan of fairy tales, I was intrigued by the sample and was not disappointed. The author/narrator related this charming tale delightfully.

The special edition comments by and interview with the author were interesting. An appreciated bonus.

    "Disappointing"

I LOVED the movie version of Stardust, and was delighted to find that it was based on a book. Sadly however, this is one of the few times (only 2 that I can think of, actually) where the book was NOT better than the movie. It turns out that some of the cleverest parts of the story were written in the screenplay... That being said, Neil Gaiman reads his story beautifully; it was a joy to listen to him.

Always wonderful to hear a story read by its author, and Mr Gaiman is superb. The story is wonderful and characters delightful. Will listen again, as with all his works.

"Watch the movie, then read the book"
What made the experience of listening to Stardust: The Gift Edition the most enjoyable?

    Probably Neil Gaiman's reading.

What did you like best about this story?

It is very much a old school fairy tale.

Which character – as performed by Neil Gaiman – was your favorite?

The main character is very likable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Oddball fantasy

    Any additional comments?

I watched the movie before I got the book. The movie was amazing. The book was also great but the movie had a bit more charm than the book did. I'm not saying the book is bad, but the movie had some parts that fit the setting quite well.
