After a tragic accident claims the life of one of her children, Marie Egide is desperate to carve out a fresh start for her family. With her husband and their three surviving children, Marie travels to New Hampshire, where she plans to sell a family estate and then, just maybe, they’ll be able to heal from their grief. Marie’s plans are thwarted when she realizes a war veteran known by locals as “the river witch” is living in a cabin on the property, which she claims was a gift from Marie’s grandfather. If Davina refuses to move on, Marie won’t be able to either.

Loved it! Highly recommend this listen!
I love fairy tales. This was my first time with this genre and this author and it was such a joyful experience.It definitely a won't be the last. Very funny. Very much a fairy tale, saturated with a variety of whimsical creatures and magical processes pitted against or allied with one another. It reminded me of 'The Princess Bride. I can't wait to see the film.

Forgot how wonderful a fairy tale can be
Picked this mostly due to length. Had just finished the 50 hours of Book 3 of Game of Thrones. Had to listen carefully to envision the setting, the characters & then the delightful relationships that started a bit surprising as the weaving of the story progressed. So happy to be enchanted and will seek out more from MR Gaiman

Outstanding!
Neil Gaiman is more than just the author, he is truly a master story teller. It is rare in my experience to find a book read by the author that is every bit as engaging and holds my interest as when read by a performer. I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good fairy tale.
