Publisher's summary

Captain Vince Lombard, G-Marine company commander, is tasked with tracking down a stray ship. The Alliance Military Ship StarFire has gone silent, and previous attempts to locate her have resulted in the loss of more ships. After two previous wars with xenospecies humanity bumped into while expanding into space, no one knows what might be the cause of StarFire's missing in action status. And internal politics between Fleet command and the Galactic Marine Corps might mean that, unless something is done, humanity may get the news it's at war with yet another new race about the time they show up to attack one of the human systems in the sector.

A prequel to the book Fey, this story is a novelization of the story Vince related to Blondie in the previous book, which many readers requested. I'm happy to accomodate my readers by providing this novel-length version of that story.

Mike Lee's response inspired me to buy, See amazon

Mike Lee posted a response to a review on Amazon. His clear and concise response inspired me to listen to his novel. I found his characters interesting and compelling. I'm very picky on the sci-fi that I listen to. I was not disappointed at all with this book. StarFire is a prequel. Wow I think I would love a prequel to "StarFire", there is so much story to be told. "Fey" is the next in the series even though it came first. I am going straight to Amazon.com to buy "Fey" in not waiting for Audible to publish an audiobook. I hope this is a very long future series, the story line resonated that much with me. I don't do reviews normally, but since I'm giving 5 stars I felt I need to explain why. The only other book I gave 5 stars to is "The Martian" by Andy Weir.

This book is as complete as Ender's Game that handled the Aliens then at end hints at the next trials.

Capt. Vince Lumbard, G-Marines vs Starfire.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, it's entertaining with engaging characters and surprising situations. Vince is a Galactic Marine, the best of the best. Starfire, the newest, largest capitol ship that has every conceived. Starfire's first cruise is out beyond the edge of the Galaxy and it's gone silent. The Navy has sent a couple of sloops to investigate , they've gone silent as well. The Navy has tried and failed. The task falls to Vince and his small contingent of G-Marines, with only fifty men, to solve a problem the Navy can't. There are no easy answer or simple solutions and there are to many things that can go wrong.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well Vince of course! Even though his a hardcore G-Marine, he has lot of brains, lots of luck and even more humanity.

Have you listened to any of Jason Brenizer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't, but he does a great job with Starfire.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions, it's a fun story and an off shoot of Mike, Lee's Fae. Which was equally as delightful. While there is a tie in between both stories there written as stand alone stories. While there are no Fae ( Faries, in space ) but it's still very creative.

Any additional comments?

I would definitely recommend this book. It's angrwat mjx of characters and action.

Great story, great characters!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jason Brenizer?

Boring, stiff, monotone - he has voices for different characters, but reads like a fifth grader.
Nearly ruins a great story.

Just OK at best

If you are looking for a great book, keep looking. This is just OK if you are looking for some light weight filler.

Great Read!

What did you love best about StarFire?

Bought this book on a lark, was happy to really enjoy it. Not only was the story great, but the narrator was super too. I really like the format, it was unusual in style (I don't want to say too much).

I would totally recommend this book, the second one was even better "Fey", it was very whimsical.

What did you like best about this story?

How deep the character was written. You care about the characters and want to know what happens next.

What about Jason Brenizer’s performance did you like?

He was great, his inflection was just right and I enjoyed when he switch to different characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hero, wrongfully accused!

Any additional comments?

Get it, read it or listen. The audible version was great, I would recommend the narrator. Highly.
