Publisher's summary

The Galactic Alliance's hard-won success in countering the Yuuzhan Vong onslaught has proven all too brief, and the tide has turned once more to the invaders' advantage.

Having overcome the sabotage strategies of the Jedi and their allies, the marauding aliens have pushed deeper into the galaxy and subjugated more worlds in their ruthless quest for domination. Coruscant has been remade into a Yuuzhan Vong stronghold. The remnants of the resistance are struggling to form a united front. Luke, Mara, and Jacen are missing in action. Clearly, the stage is set for an endgame.

Now, as Han and Leia receive the chilling news that hundreds of high-ranking Galactic Alliance prisoners face slaughter in a sacrifice to the enemy's bloodthirsty gods, Luke and his team try desperately to convince the living world of Zonama Sekot to join the Jedi's final campaign against the Yuuzhan Vong. Yet even as they speak, a lone space station is all that stands between Alliance headquarters on Mon Calamari and wave after wave of ferocious enemy forces waging their most decisive assault.

At the same time, the Jedi's alliances throughout the galaxy are being tested, and the chances of victory jeopardized, by rogue factions determined to deploy the lethal weapon that will exterminate the Yuuzhan Vong and perhaps countless other species. And among the Yuuzhan Vong themselves, the threat of revolt has reached a boiling point, as the oppressed underclass and powerful officials alike fear their Supreme Overlord's mad actions will provoke the wrath of the gods.

Ultimately, for both the forces of invasion and resistance, too much has been sacrificed, and too much is at stake, to ever turn back. And now, nothing can stand in the way of seizing victory or facing annihilation.

Critic reviews

"Jonathan Davis again lends his voice to the Star Wars universe in a story that concludes the long-running New Jedi Order series. Davis, the sound effects, and the music do much to capture the tone of the original three Star Wars films. In a performance that should delight fans, the whole of the story is an exciting final confrontation between the Yuuzhan Vong and the Jedi, who include Luke Skywalker and his sister Leia's children....A satisfying conclusion to the New Jedi Order series, well read and well produced." Awesome Final Book!

This is an excellent story, well-written! This could have been the perfect plot and finale, instead of The Last Jedi and current 7-8-9 movies. I would've preferred to have seen this on the big screen.

skips way too much of the important details

even though this is a abridged audiobook I still enjoy Jonathan Davis's performance. The thing that really hurts this audiobook for me is the fact that it did not include the ending for the novel which I thought was beautiful and a great way to end the series to me the ending was too abrupt. I really wish this audiobook was longer because this is a great novel.

The Unifying Force.

I bought this because even In the darkest of days Legends remind me of hope.
The tide has turned. Darkness has encompassed most of galaxy. But a light still burns. The Galactic Alliance and the Jedi. This book brings the New Jedi to an epic close. With Jonathan Davis and a six hour count this was worth the credit. (Read the all NJO in paperback or on Kindle. Most of its abridged.) While obviously missing a lot from the novel this does the story justice.
Destiny’s way is worth a credit as well.
If you are feeling flush or have a coupon, Traitor, Rebel Dawn and Dream, are definitely worth a listen. Think of them is mini movies of books we love.
Legends may be over, but it will never be forgotten.

most excellent conclusion to an amazing tale.

I have not heard a star wars story so well done as this, and the conclusion is most satisfying. very well done. hope starwars legends, especially the new jedi order, makes it to the ears of everyone, and the writers get their due credit.

19 books and I’m happy I did it

Star Wars universe will have a hard time telling a greater tale in canon or legends.
Star by Star in this series is also probably my favorite book in the New Jedi Order. But this last book had so many revelations that tied everything together. Perhaps Canon can revisit ushering this war into one of their time lines in the future. Excellent work all authors.

Pretty Good

I knew all about the War but it’s good to finally learn how it ended and also learn what caused Jacen to eventually turn to the Darkside.
