Publisher's summary

The era of the Old Republic is a dark and dangerous time, as Jedi Knights valiantly battle the Sith Lords and their ruthless armies. But the Sith have disturbing plans—and none more so than the fulfillment of Darth Scabrous’s fanatical dream, which is about to become nightmarish reality.

Unlike those other Jedi sidelined to the Agricultural Corps—young Jedi whose abilities have not proved up to snuff—Hestizo Trace possesses one extraordinary Force talent: a gift with plants. Suddenly her quiet existence among greenhouse and garden specimens is violently destroyed by the arrival of an emissary from Darth Scabrous. For the rare black orchid that she has nurtured and bonded with is the final ingredient in an ancient Sith formula that promises to grant Darth Scabrous his greatest desire.

But at the heart of the formula is a never-before-seen virus that’s worse than fatal—it doesn’t just kill, it transforms. Now the rotting, ravenous dead are rising, driven by a bloodthirsty hunger for all things living—and commanded by a Sith Master with an insatiable lust for power and the ultimate prize: immortality . . . no matter the cost.

loved it

love death troopers, and this one. They did take the famous line from the movie Taken that took the originality from the book other then that a great horror book.

A darker side of the sith

I hope there will be more encounters with this plague. I really enjoyed it.
I recommend this book and Death Troopers.

50/50

Story is ok, but the narrator pauses between words... as... if... he... were... reading... to...partially deaf persons. Would have been much better with ANY of the other common starwars narrators. Still a good audiobook though.

narrator ruined it

great story excellently written. Awesome book. the narrator read in an unnatural manner almost mechanical. it was hard to listen to because of the narrator. it was almost like it was computer generated.

A great horror take in the Star Wars universe

With the dark side in control of a mysterious power the dead arise again, but can the light side endure?

Extremely fun and scary!

I LOVE this type of Star Wars book. Very fun to listen to, different from the normal SW lore, and utterly terrifying! Enjoy the scary experience! Please make more of this type of SW book!

performance great, story ok

it was bingeable? without spoilers I'll say the characters were hard to care for too deeply and there was a lot of cheesiness and some almost blatant plagiarism.

I'm a star wars fan, though, and I did enjoy it. :)

Gory, brutal and brilliant

One of the most brutal and sickening Star Wars stories but man does it deliver. Amazing performance.

A decent horror story with a Star Wars twist

Red Harvest was a disappointing addition to the other great Old Republic stories. John Glover gives a good performance, but it can be hard to hear what he says at times.

The story was lacking and lost its focus by diluting the story too much with unnecessary viewpoints and storylines. The story was a good explanation on where the virus came from in the Death Troopers novel. All in all, this book in my opinion can be skipped if you want to learn more about The Old Republic and a better horror story can be found elsewhere.
