Publisher's summary

The era of the Old Republic is a dark and dangerous time, as Jedi Knights valiantly battle the Sith Lords and their ruthless armies. But the Sith have disturbing plans—and none more so than the fulfillment of Darth Scabrous’s fanatical dream, which is about to become nightmarish reality.

Unlike those other Jedi sidelined to the Agricultural Corps—young Jedi whose abilities have not proved up to snuff—Hestizo Trace possesses one extraordinary Force talent: a gift with plants. Suddenly her quiet existence among greenhouse and garden specimens is violently destroyed by the arrival of an emissary from Darth Scabrous. For the rare black orchid that she has nurtured and bonded with is the final ingredient in an ancient Sith formula that promises to grant Darth Scabrous his greatest desire.

But at the heart of the formula is a never-before-seen virus that’s worse than fatal—it doesn’t just kill, it transforms. Now the rotting, ravenous dead are rising, driven by a bloodthirsty hunger for all things living—and commanded by a Sith Master with an insatiable lust for power and the ultimate prize: immortality . . . no matter the cost.

“Brilliant . . . This book combines two of my favorite things on earth: the Star Wars universe and the undead.” (Tommy Wirkola, director of Dead Snow)

A fun Star Wars horror story

An entertaining read, not as good as Death Troopers or Mail: Lockdown, but still pretty solid

Headline says optional but then requires headline

Edits were too detectable but probably because John Glover delivers such a spirited reading that shifts in tone are more noticable. Story was good for the purpose of serving a prequel to Death Troopers. Some of the writing... I dunno, hard to tell. Glover can make a story sound better than it night actually be so with the uncertainty, I can say it wasn't exactly enthralling. But it was exciting enough.

Chilling

While some of the details I thought were unnecessary for the Deathtroopers title, it was still a fun read to listen to. Definitely one of the goriest SW titles that I personally have listened to, so if you're a Star Wars fan as well as a Zombie genre fan, this is definitely the best of both worlds.

Also, SPOILERS, there is a HK model droid that tears into a few hordes as well as some zombie Tauntauns, so what's not to love about this title?

Great story, a little jumbled, but amazing nonetheless.

The book was amazing and particularly gory for Star Wars and I very much enjoyed that adult theme.
The story was a little jumbled and hollow to begin with, but the premise of the story had been built on a small scale conflict that originated in a small area, but had the potential to affect a much larger realm of the force users. It was great and makes you wonder if Red Harvest is truly over. Thanks Now Schreiber!!!

What a thrilling journey!

Wow!
This book had me hooked from beginning to end. I will say that it has a different feel than Death Troopers, so for those like me who went to this book after finishing the other, you will not find the same thing. It *was*, however, quite scary at times and *did* scratch that Death Troopers itch. The only thing I could nitpick about the book is that I struggled to identify which characters were important. Quite a few times, characters were introduced only to die. However, it all tied together later in the story and worked very well in the end. It was a very enjoyable experience and has certainly earned it's way on my list of favorite star wars stories in its uniqueness of setting and storytelling.

Uhhhh, what?!?! Amazing book

Not even into books like this. It really took me by surprise. Amazing story with nothing held back. Another fantastic story in the Star Wars universe. If they made this a movie…. Oh gosh..

In my opinion, great story. Very brutal!!

Compared to other reviewers, I really enjoy the book. Yes there was a lot of characters to follow up with but all in all amazing read. The gruesome details I enjoyed very much.
