Here is a special edition 20th anniversary release of the number-one New York Times best-selling novel that reignited the entire Star Wars publishing phenomenon - unabridged for the first time. The biggest event in the history of Star Wars books, Heir to the Empire follows the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia after they led the Rebel Alliance to victory in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
Five years after the Death Star was destroyed and Darth Vader and the Emperor were defeated, the galaxy is struggling to heal the wounds of war, Princess Leia and Han Solo are married and expecting twins, and Luke Skywalker has become the first in a long-awaited line of new Jedi Knights.
But thousands of light-years away, the last of the Emperor’s warlords - the brilliant and deadly Grand Admiral Thrawn - has taken command of the shattered Imperial fleet, readied it for war, and pointed it at the fragile heart of the New Republic. For this dark warrior has made two vital discoveries that could destroy everything the courageous men and women of the Rebel Alliance fought so hard to create.
The explosive confrontation that results is a towering epic of action, invention, mystery, and spectacle on a galactic scale - in short, a story worthy of the name Star Wars.

The narrator for this book was amazing, I really enjoyed listening to his re-telling of one of my favorite Star Wars novels.
Fun Fun Fun!!!
none that I've heard so far even come close.
He brings these beloved characters to life. Han and Luke are spot on!
Star Wars fans don't miss this unique listening experience.
The production qaulity was great. The characters sounded like they did in the Star Wars movies and the sound effects helped add to the experience.
Incredible full on production. This is so much more than just a narrator reading a book. The narrator is incredible about sounding like the original actors in the movie series. I have really enjoyed to sound effects for R2D2, Chewbacca, starfighter laser guns, etc. Really fun to listen too!
This story is great for the Star Wars fan who wants to follow Luke and friends into the future from episode VI (Return Of The Jedi). The performance was good with the exception of the wookie who speaks english. The sounds made during and after a sentence were like fingernails on a chalkboard. Most of human voices are really well done and similar to the way I remember hearing them in the movies.
A really good follow up to the movies. Princess Laya is a little softer than I remember. Lots of new people in this series that would be fun to follow. Great story line, and the delivery is amazing.
So did not read the novels between the movies and this series. And apparently there was a lot going on. Laya organa solo is carrying twins! Are you kidding me how did I miss that?
I have never heard of Mark Thompson before but I am really impressed with the amount of characters he can keep up with.
The first part of the Thorn Series makes you think the Empire just got its second wind and is over the Death Star money pit.
Lots of new characters but the good ones are still in this one. Mark has a great Solo voice too.
There's something good about listening to an audio book where you see the voices you hear as they're familiar figures from the silver screen. Full of Star Wars action and adventure. The ending was a bit unsatisfying, but I supposed that's what you get when you listen to a trilogy. A must for Star Wars fans as it answers the question, "what happens after the movie is over".
This is a great audiobook, my first Star Wars book/audiobook and I am so glad it was. The sound effects in this (and many other Star Wars audiobooks) take this version over the top. In addition to the narrator doing a fantastic job, the sound effects really help make it feel like you're in the story and in the Star Wars universe!
This book got me hooked not just on this trilogy but on all the other Star Wars books. I was delighted to find that many others have sound effects and fantastic narrators as well and i highly recommend this and the other two books in the series for anyone who loves the movies.
I haven't listened to many audio books but this book was my favorite that I have ever read. I knew I had to listen to the audio version. It did not disappoint.
Grand Admiral Thrawn is my favorite character, because he is such a brilliant strategist and a complicated person.
The voices, especially Grand Admiral Thrawn.
.....I would leave that up to George Lucas :)
Time was well spent listenting to this book. I always enjoy Star Wars stories.
Could have used a little more action. Story line was a little weak and un-interesting but I realize this is the first book in a series and the books will probably build suspense along the way. Plus, how can Luke the Jedi master stud keep getting caught in near-death situations by non-Sith foes? Luke should be cast to be a little more powerful.
Marc Thompson read the book very well. The performance and effects of the reading are great.
Everything you would want from an addition to the Star Wars universe. Great story, good written dialogue, all coming together with a great performance!
