Repercussions from the dark side's fatal seduction of Jacen Solo and the mysterious plague of madness afflicting young Jedi continue to wreak havoc galaxy-wide. Having narrowly escaped the deranged Force worshippers known as the Mind Walkers, and a deadly Sith hit squad, Luke and Ben Skywalker are in pursuit of the now masterless Sith apprentice. It is a chase that leads to the forbidding planet Dathomir, where an enclave of powerful dark-side Force-wielders will give Vestara the edge she needs to escape - and where the Skywalkers will be forced into combat for their quarry and their lives.
Meanwhile, Han and Leia have completed their own desperate mission, shuttling madness-stricken Jedi from Coruscant to a safe haven in the Transitory Mists and beyond the grasp of Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala. But the bold maneuver has intensified Daalas fury, and she is determined to shatter Jedi Order resistance once and for all.
Yet no greater threat exists than that which still waits in the depths of the distant Maw Cluster: a being of pure, ravenous dark-side energy named Abeloth calls out across the stars to Jedi and Sith alike. For some it may be the ultimate source of answers crucial to their survival. For others it could be the ultimate weapon of conquest. But for all, it is a game-changing and life-altering encounter of untold magnitude and a tactical gambit with unimaginable consequences.

This series is great. The story gets better as it goes with this one being very exciting to listen to. It was full of epic battles and twisting plots that had me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series Allies.
Definitely Luke Skywalker is the man but, Vistara Kai has my attention. im very curious about where this character is going in this series.
I really liked the audio-back version of Backlash. March Thompson really helps bring the story to life with his impersonations of the various characters. His Luke Skywalker and Han Solo voices are pretty dead-on and really sound like Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, making them truly sound like the characters.
His characterizations of the Sith, the Dathomiri, The GA officials, Imperial officials, and other characters give a sense of the story that just reading the book the normal way does not.
I'd highly recommend any Star Wars audiobook who has Marc Thompson as the narrator/character voices.
Marc Thompson is Marc Thompson, need I say more?
I was a bit skeptical of the story at first, but it's grown on me. It really is developing well and shockingly. The emotions run high and the story becomes more and more epic and engaging.
Backlash was a good addition to the series. Not as good as the last three imo, but still a fun little listen. Looking forward to the next in series.

Legendary.. All that needs to be said.
Neither, it was good, but it is more of a setup to the next book in line.
I don't add a lot of reviews . But when I do ..... you know its good enough for me to take time to say wow .
another top notch book . happy to listen to and buying another right away words word word word word word word
Yes, it includes new characters, sith antagonists, corrupt government officials, and jedi vs sith lightsaber battles.
Marc Thompson is by far the best audio book voice over I've ever came across.
I'm avid audiobook listener!! I probably average 3 to 4 books a month!!
I got hooked from the start, and left wanting to move to the next book!!!
This entire book could have been a short story essay. The tribe they are visiting on Dathomir will engage in a traditional, inter-tribal competition and I immediately think, "Oh no, I'm sure Luke will waste half the book competing in this silly ritual," and of course he does. This is both boring AND clich?.
The overriding Sith storyline is advanced very little until the very end of the book. Worse, there was absolutely no advancement in the rogue Jedi situation except for one more junior Jedi who freaks out momentarily and is quickly dispensed with. In the grand scheme of this book, these two things do not rate even as high as speed bumps.
The most interesting thing in the book is the Mandalorian sequence. That is potentially one of the more interesting subplots. I hope they will keep the story moving along rather letting parts of the story stagnate.
I think the book is still worth the read but it won't be winning any awards, that's for sure.
This is Star Wars. This new series is the best so far, even surpassing Legacy of the Force, which was amazing. I've listened to each book in this series and each one has left me hungry for more. Alas, no new Star Wars until May! Awesome series, awesome book, awesome narration. We can only hope Marc Thompson narrates every Star Wars book in the future.
I disagree with the first part not grabbing me. I dig it. There are better outings from Aaron but I do think it was decent and entertaining. Anything involving Dathomir is good in my book.
