Publisher's summary

He was the most powerful Sith lord who ever lived... but could he be the only one who never died?

“Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise that he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying." -Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

Darth Plagueis: one of the most brilliant Sith Lords who ever lived. Possessing power is all he desires. Losing it is the only thing he fears. As an apprentice, he embraces the ruthless ways of the Sith. And when the time is right, he destroys his Master - but vows never to suffer the same fate. For like no other disciple of the dark side, Darth Plagueis learns to command the ultimate power... over life and death.

Darth Sidious: Plagueis’s chosen apprentice. Under the guidance of his Master, he secretly studies the ways of the Sith, while publicly rising to power in the galactic government, first as Senator, then as Chancellor, and eventually as Emperor.

Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious, Master and acolyte, target the galaxy for domination - and the Jedi Order for annihilation. But can they defy the merciless Sith tradition? Or will the desire of one to rule supreme, and the dream of the other to live forever, sow the seeds of their destruction?

Amazing story - Makes you view the entire Star Wars story with another perspective

I loved the story. The performance was excellent in my opinion. My one gripe (really irked me) was the narrator’s pronunciation of Master Sifo Dyas’ name.

Not a story the Jedi would teach you

I do love how this story really fleshes out the Sith, and shows the various flaws with the Jedi order and Republic. it adds some much needed balance to the events which we see in the movies.

Always two there are...

Loved that this book gave a deeper insight into the relationship between the Sith Master and Apprentice.

The narrator did a great job.

The Prequel for the Prequels

As someone who came from Timothy Zahn and Marc Thompson I was hesitant to start a new author and narrator for the Star Wars universe. That trepidation was quickly subsided. The overall production was excellent with great voice acting and effects. background noises weren't noticeable until they stopped which in my opinion adds gravitas to a moment.

For the story itself it was as if finally seeing the full picture. I'm writing this review in 2023 when we have been given repeatedly dumbed down star wars material on the screen. This provided so much background philosophy, world (galaxy) building, and political intrigue it was refreshing and at times actually hard to keep track of.

Anyone who is a fan of the star wars universe and not just cool light saber fights should give this book a listen. You won't be disappointed.

*standing ovation*

Loved it. Informative. Easy to get into and stay into. The worst part about it? It ended. Best part? I can do it again.

Awesome Prelude

This book and narration transferred me into the Star Wars Galaxy. Awesome book and and awesome way to connect the lore to canon. Really hope we get some of this is in the movies to come.

great story and performances.

great story with nice sound effects and voices. some of the story towards the end isn't exactly on track with the films but still cool to hear prelude to episode 1.
