I read this story many years ago, and liked the character development, rich story line, and intricate plot. Well, it didn't translate into a 90 min script, and just lumped together a bunch of unlikely alien features that made an unremarkable story. The narration was great, though, Scotty (Doohan?).
I'm living in constant pain from degenerative disk desease. Audible makes day to days better!
James Doohan made this great! This was my 3rd time reading it. The alien was - poor.
James Doohan is a great narrator, but so much of the plot was cut. Chekhov and Sulu's entire subplot was dropped! A reare instance where I recommend reading the paper copy!
It is such a treat to listen to James Doohan - as charming a performer as ever in this narration. It is a good story and very professionally done. It is true to all the original characters and has a very original feel to it. Highly recommended to all Star Trek fans, and even if you only sort of liked the show - It really is fun to listen to.
"a cut too far"
decent story with the incomparable James Doohan but cut down too far from the original
