Publisher's summary

Humanoid buffalo and armadillo bikers in postapocalyptic Oklahoma!

A bio-engineered super-soldier named Hella and her mutant buffalo sidekick, Stampede, clash with armadillo bikers and inter-dimensional mutants across the ragged landscape of Gamma-Oklahoma. This is a fast-paced story of adventure, mixed with liberal doses of humor, in a postapocalyptic science-fantasy world unlike any other.

Enjoyable lightweight post-apocalyptic adventure

The characters and settings are fun. The protagonist changes and grows during the story. The story moves along quickly. I’d recommend to anyone looking for adventurous reading in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Good story, poor vocal characterizations.

The story is pretty good but the narrator, who does have a good, clear voice, never does any of the voices and it makes it very hard to who's talking and when. Had to restart several times to just to start to understand what was going on because everything just sounds like a blob on your ears. BUT! don't let this book deter you from getting the 2nd one. Great story, great voice work, and is one of my all-time favorite stories. Each of the books is stand alone and you don't have to read one to get the other. In fact, I suggest you read the second book first, then if you really want, to get this one next or just skip it. I really like the background of the whole premise of Gamma World and hopefully, there will be some new ones coming out, soon.
