Publisher's summary

It is 83 years after the last of the thinking machines were destroyed in the Battle of Corrin, after Faykan Butler took the name of Corrino and established himself as the first Emperor of a new Imperium. Great changes are brewing that will shape and twist all of humankind. The war hero Vorian Atreides has turned his back on politics and Salusa Secundus. The descendants of Abulurd Harkonnen Griffen and Valya have sworn vengeance against Vor, blaming him for the downfall of their fortunes. Raquella Berto-Anirul has formed the Bene Gesserit School on the jungle planet Rossak as the first Reverend Mother.

The descendants of Aurelius Venport and Norma Cenva have built Venport Holdings, using mutated, spice-saturated Navigators who fly precursors of Heighliners. Gilbertus Albans, the ward of the hated Erasmus, is teaching humans to become Mentats… and hiding an unbelievable secret. The Butlerian movement, rabidly opposed to all forms of “dangerous technology,” is led by Manford Torondo and his devoted Swordmaster, Anari Idaho. And it is this group, so many decades after the defeat of the thinking machines, which begins to sweep across the known universe in mobs, millions strong, destroying everything in its path.

In Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's Sisterhood of Dune, every one of these characters, and all of these groups, will become enmeshed in the contest between Reason and Faith. All of them will be forced to choose sides in the inevitable crusade that could destroy humankind forever.

At three minutes long, the trailer itself is a beautiful masterpiece, and it teases many of the important characters and aspects from the story. Amazing

I remember reading the three books of the jihad when they were first published. There were so many unanswered questions then and so many mysteries. What happened to Vorian? What of Gilbertus Albans and Erasmus? How did the sorceresses and later sisterhood evolve into the Bene Gesserit?
Once more Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson have captivated the imagination and taken it on an incredible journey through the Dune universe. The narrator does great justice to the work, providing emotion and lack of it when appropriate. Indeed, this is an audiobook for any fan of the expanded Mythos provided by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.

Fills in some blanks. Narration not so good

A lot of people gave this a negative review, but they need to calm down and just enjoy the story for what it is. Yes, the characters seemed to devolve a little, and that’s irritating, but not a deal breaker.

Vor is back, so that’s really good. And frankly, that’s all I cared about! That and the downfall of the stupid Butlerians. I kept waiting for someone to just hurry up and assassinate the leader. Gilbertus should have been a powerhouse, but he’s scared of everything.

Despite all that, I’m very happy to have additional information about how we get to Dune. The narration this time was very poor though. Scott Brick sounded breathless and depressed. Very unusual for him. Not sure what happened.

Infuriating

I love this series. I read the originals a million years ago, and a couple of the "house" books a half million years ago. Recently I picked things up from the beginning and am just going to truck on through. I love the epic stories, the characters and the writing. That being said, this book is INFURIATING. Which I guess is what makes it so good. I am so angry at certain parties and circumstances in this story that I keep yelling at them in my car or in the den. The next book remains just as infuriating. There are just some people you want to choke.

Vor does it AGAIN

The more I continue with the series, the deeper the lore takes me and fascinates me. The story is exquisitely written and Scott Brick is the perfect narrator. On to the next page of this epic adventure through time and space that challenges the mind.

Great story

I loved reading the origins of all of the different sects of characters and how the interactions started and weaved into each other. It gives a greater understanding and depth to the original Dune stories. Bring on the next one

Didn't really focus on the sisterhood

a strange one this - a story sure but the title is very misleading as it seems to focus a lot more on the aftermath of the butlerian jihad and its fanatics rather than flesh out more about the sisterhood. even so there is some insight there into the early years

Exceptional

I have always enjoyed this series. I also appreciate the additions that Brian and Kevin have brought to the Dune Universe. Each author has brought their own unique perspective and writing style, all of which greatly add to the original box. Though each is unique and different, there is value in each of them. I absolutely loved this audiobook, the way that it was read, and the continuation of Dune.
