The homicide beat in Louisiana isn't just terrifying, it's demonic. Detective Kara Gilligan of the supernatural task force has the ability to summon demons to her aid, but she herself is pledged to serve a demonic lord. And now, people who've hurt Kara in the past are dropping dead for no apparent reason.
To clear her name and save both the demon and human worlds, she's in a race against the clock and in a battle for her life that just may take her to hell and back.

This is the fourth book in the series, but only the second put on audible. I've only listened to Secrets of the Demon in this series, and I liked this book better than Secrets. I really enjoyed this book, especially how demons were used to attempt to solve the crime. I also liked that I was able to predict before hand who was actually at fault for the murders. Overall, if you want to listen to a good mystery or urban fantasy this is a good choice. I would recommend this book to friends.
I have read the previous 3 books on my ereader and really enjoyed them. I'm so glad to see these on audible... But keep adding please! I see there's another book in the series that isn't here, plus another coming in December '13.
I recommend starting at the beginning of this series with mark of the Demon to get the full perspective. The demons aren't your typical demons, but rather being from another place that can be summoned into this world. They are ruled by Demon Lords that may also be summoned.
Start at the beginning... And Audible, please add the next title!

I was at the edge of my seat most of the time and laughing the other times.
The part where Kara was saying goodbye to her guardian! I wanted to cry.
I love the way she voices the different characters and the feelings is just like if I was listening to a movie..
I read this one first because it was cheaper and I wanted to know what it was about. I am glad that they can be read out of order. BUT,,, know I am hooked and plan on getting them all especially book 5 since this book left me hang'n... I am desperate to find out how she gets out of the Demon realm.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
This series is still going strong and getting better! This one leaves you begging for more. So off I go to the next one. I have no credits so I'm buying it. That's how much I like it and I don't want to wait for my credit.

This time, we get to see more of a “human” side to the demons: specially Kara’s live in bodyguard/roommate. Their antics had me cracking up many times; but it wasn’t only there, the Demon Lord Rhyzkahl seems to be showing a softer side towards Kara, he can be almost tender with her, and not just during the throws of passion. Hmmm
Kara is given more and more clues on the big mystery that is Ryan; even though none of the demons can answer questions directly, and Ryan has absolutely no recall of what is going on. It’s a huge mystery that Kara is itching to solve. Then people who have once wronged her start popping up dead, Kara is be framed by someone, but why? Meanwhile, someone from the demon realm is trying to summon her to that side. Oh yeah, to say she has A LOT going on is putting it mildly.
The ending, OMG, the ending! I have been trying to read a few other books in between these, but nope I can’t, I have to KNOW what is happening! OMG, just WOW!....Sara
I enjoy the added dimension of listening
The Charly Davidson books are of a similar vein
I've been listening to this series and it's my first experience with her
Yes! Very edge of your seat and great suspense
I love to read but who has time. I'm in the car all day for work so listening to books is so perfect and feeds my habit. :-)
loved it can't wait to start the next one!
Kara Gillian, Ryan, Zach, Jill, Aunt Tessa and all the other strange and wonderful creatures that pull you in to this bizarre story.
I am breathless, something HUGE is coming! Starting next book in love long series.... Good long series of audiobooks! Excellent narrater!!! I hope it's not like game of thrones though & gets you all wound up on all the exciting characters & plots then goes to crap.
the story was enjoyable and so very much the way it was narrated, a truly great series of books.
Kim Harrison has written some great books, so has John Ringo, also Chris Fieldwater, he has some awesome new books, one was mind blowing and enjoyable in so many ways, but then thats my personnel tastes.
Her voice and the professional way she can narrate the story.
I have no single moment in this single book but many from the series.
Please Diana write many more books.
