Publisher's summary

All-new action in the number-one New York Times best-selling urban fantasy series.

When mechanic and shapeshifter Mercy Thompson attempts to return a powerful Fae book she'd previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down. It seems the book contains secret knowledge - and the Fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands.

And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side - leaving Mercy to cover for him, lest his own father declare Sam's life forfeit.

All in all, Mercy has had better days. And if she isn't careful, she might not have many more to live.

Have Mercy: listen to another Mercy Thompson chiller.

Critic reviews

“If the term ‘ass-kicking chick’ has ever found a more apt heroine I - well, I can’t think of who. These are fantastic adventures and Mercy reigns.” (SFRevu)

“Filled with action, romance, and fae intrigue...another entertaining entry in a strong saga. However, it is Patricia Briggs’ world-building skills on a par with early Laurell K. Hamilton that make Silver Borne a winner.” (Midwest Book Review)

“Exciting...Briggs creates both well-rounded characters and a complex mythology, resulting in a rich read that’s far more than a series of action adventures strung together.” (Publishers Weekly)

Love it!

I adore this series. It’s so real while being a fabulous fantasy. Mercy Thompson is one of the best written female protagonists I’ve ever read.

Award-worthy Voice Acting of a Top Tier Urban Fantasy Novel

This fifth Mercedes Thompson novel by Patricia Briggs is my favorite yet, and that’s with a high bar previously set. The heart and pathos that is injected into this tale for all the distance it travels in myth and fights and the Tri-Cities just gives it depth that other writers mostly can only hope to achieve. Never mind that the characters are brought to life so uniquely and completely by Narrator Lorelei King.

This Series Just Keeps Getting Better!

I have turned into a huge fan of Patricia Briggs.
Her stories are always fast paced and very interesting.
In "Silver Borne" we get a little more romance, than in the previous books. Which only makes the story, that much better.
All the "Mercy" books are narrated by, Lorelei King. She does a great job of adding depth to the story. Her narration makes "Mercy" come alive.
I would recommend this book.

So much for not being a romance novel

I love the story, but all the lovy- doveyness is getting distracting. I think it's hilarious that half the reviews I read about the very first book made it very clear that it was NOT a romance novel despite the cover. the novel in the cover are starting to come together... I can't believe I just said that.

Great Series!

I tried this series because it was similar to some others I had listed to. I like paranormal books but with some funny in them and some romance in them, this series had them all. I wizzed right through the series and waiting anxiously for the next book to come out. If you like the Sookies Stackhouse books and the Laurell Hamilton/Anita Baker books you'll like this series. Also the new Darynda Jones new series. They all have the same to offer and they are all great!

I Binge Listened This Series

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ariana was a great introduced character, you quickly get deep with her and get to see what makes her tick.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

She does voices OH SO WELL. My wife, while listening and driving, didn't believe me that there wasn't more than one narrator for the male voices. Insisting there was no way a woman did those voices.

Any additional comments?

If you are just looking for reviews on how the series holds up, I think you'll find this is a series worth going through and sticking with. Hooked me enough that I'll be going through the other series in the Mercyverse.
