    "Wraps it all up nicely."

This is a fairly easy book to recommend because if you are reading this review then chances are you found the first 2 books entertaining. Know that this is the best of the three and you can pick it up without hesitation. If you haven't read the first 2 books then you should not start here as many things will not make sense to you.

Overall I enjoyed the series, especially the story surrounding the dragons, wizardwood, and the live ships. It was definitely interesting and unique fantasy fare. The first book started a little slow and introduced many disjointed story threads. The second book picked up the pace and started to bring the threads together. And finally, the third book converged all of the story lines to end an age and usher in a new one. It all concludes nicely at the end so continuing on to Robin Hobb's next series about the Rain Wilds is purely optional.

Anne Flosnik is still the narrator and her performance here is consistent with the first 2 books.

    "Something altogether new"

I have read a lot of fantasy in my time and it is rare to come across a story that is truly original. The world Robin Hobb has created in this series is unlike any I've seen, the magic is subtle and the characters are alive. After reading the Farseer trilogy (also by Robin Hobb), I couldn't wait to get my hands on more of her books. This one was as good, if not better. The characters Robin creates are real people, they don't always behave the way you expect them to, they make mistakes and they evolve based on what has happened to them. None of the characters are completely good or completely evil, and they don't fit into classic stereotypes.
This series is actually placed in the same world as the Farseer trilogy and there are a few subtle ties to that story (which is fun if you've read it). If you find you like Robin Hobb's style, you should really consider listening to her works in order. Each trilogy stands alone, but is made better if read in the right order. Start with the Farseer trilogy, next is the Liveship Traders, then the Tawny Man, and finally the Rainwild chronicles. If on the other hand, you are only going to read one set...read this one. It is impossible to stop listening until you've reached the end.

What disappointed you about Ship of Destiny?

    It was boring and uninteresting.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something in Space Opera. Fantasy has been a big disappointment the last few new tries.

What three words best describe Anne Flosnik’s voice?

    Emotes, energy, pleasant

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ship of Destiny?

The entire book. Didn't listen to it all but everything I heard was boring.

    Any additional comments?

Bought this with a valuable credit as I've been hearing the author compared to Briggs and Bujold. What a crock. Don't listen to others when they compare authors, it's subjective.

"A great trilogy with depth and exciting too."
Would you listen to Ship of Destiny again? Why?

I loved this trilogy especially this final book of the series. I love Anne Flosnik's narration. Her voice is superb. She does each character wonderfully. I was attached to all the characters whether they be "good" or "bad" as the author has a way of showing us both sides of each character.

What other book might you compare Ship of Destiny to and why?

Perhaps Eragon series. Or Robin Hobb's other Farseer's series.

What does Anne Flosnik bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

So much! The accents of each character, the inflections in her voice. She is a true story teller. If I read the book I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as listening to it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!!! I couldn't cook dinner, take care of business, talk to other people lest anything take me away from the story!

    Any additional comments?

Loved this series so much. Highly recommended to those who like fantasy novels with excellent charactor developement.

    "Story comes together"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Only to a dedicated fantasy reader.

What other book might you compare Ship of Destiny to and why?

It is a teensy little bit Pernlike because there are dragons and people dedicated to them.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

This narrator just isn't my favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No! I had periods of being sick of it.

    Any additional comments?

I feel as if many of the characters started developing personalities they didn't have in the first two books. Kennit actually became pretty interesting. I still waiting on Althea.

"Much shorter, but a great story!"

This is another installment in this engrossing story... I thought it was the final of 3 books, but it's certainly not the end of the story, so I look forward to the next book? Trilogy? Still can't stand the narrator.

"Good story; Narrator excels after all"

I'll admit to being apprehensive after reading some other reviews describe the narrator. I had GREAT difficulty during the first chapter. The cadence adopted by the reader seemed overly dramatic and best suited for children's material. Either the narrator changed her approach soon after starting the book or I became enamored by it, as within a chapter or two I was completely drawn into the story, and not at all distracted by the reading. In fact I'll even go so far as to say that the narrator excelled at giving voice to the characters in the story. This book was a memorable read, and a great start to a rewarding trilogy that expands on the world in the Farseer series.

"Great listen if you like Hobbs"
What did you love best about Ship of Destiny?

I love the extended world series by Hobbs, and this whole trilogy is a good link in the chain. Very satisfying conclusion to the Mad Ship trilogy,

What did you like best about this story?

It wrapped up all of the complex story ones laid out in the earlier books and set the scene for the next trilogy. Love so many of the characters- Paragon, Althea and Brashen, Kennit, et al.

What about Anne Flosnik’s performance did you like?

Good job with the various characters.
