Publisher's summary

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh — a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds. In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves. Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world... or destroy it.

Satisfying conclusion to Mac and Barron's story

If you could sum up Shadowfever in three words, what would they be?

Dark, erotic, violent

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dani because she was so innocent

Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to the 4th book in the series that I believe they narrated. I liked them as performers.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was a very dark storyline so I had to listen in bits an pieces. Still I did find myself finding more tasks to do that would allow me to listen to it while I worked.

5 stars all around

A great ending to a fantastically addicting series. I could not get enough as I read these books. So much intrigue, so many plot twists that gave me whiplash! Definitely one of my favorite book series of all time. I absolutely loved Mac & Barrons. KMM is a genius and the narrators were phenomenal.

THIS IS THE #1 MOST ADDICTING FANTASY SERIES EVER!

First, I need to point out that this audiobook was incredible. Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante did a remarkable job. Their interaction and how they portrayed emotions was just perfection. They clearly made the characters come alive. Shadowfever is the fifth & final installment (for now) of the Fever series. And what an ending it was!! This book was an undeniably explosion! It was emotional, intense, sexy, infuriating at times and laugh-out-loud funny in others. I absolutely loved it. While the series as a whole didn't start off as explosively for me, it certainly kept improving steadily till the end. It's almost impossible to discuss Shadowfever without getting into spoilers; and I'd never want to ruin anything from this story. I am going to make this spoiler free so it may be vague and it may not be very insightful. The series as a whole has some of the most elaborate and well thought-out world building I've ever encountered. Shadowfever had every bit of mystery, adventure, suspense, thrill, love and lost that you want in a fantasy series. You will be utterly shocked, saddened, angry and happy all at the same time. Its the type of book that makes you think, assume things, and then chaos hits. You realize you were completely off. Each book in the series is unique. Darkfever was just an intro, and a bit slower paced but very relevant. The main point happens after the end of the 3rd book -Faefever, which had one hell of a cruel ending. As well as Dreamfever, which also had one hell of a shocker in the end. I especially loved Shadowfever because everything becomes finally answered. All I'll say is that Book 5 is even more AWESOME!!! This was an emotional roller coaster that made me hold my breath until the very end. I struggled with so many emotions. I was feeling hope, then that was shattered, I cried and laughed. This book captivated me. The whole series is addicting especially Shadowfever. To all those that haven't started this series yet just be prepared to devour each book back to back. If I could I would give more than 5 stars. This series was AMAZING.

21 people listened to a 19 hr book in <12 hrs?

I have been anxiously awaiting this book after the huge cliffhanger in the last book, but on the day it was published I checked the reviews. There were 21 people on the first day giving it 5 stars. Really? For a book that is 19 hrs long? Sounds like an overdone marketing campaign to me. Since I had been waiting so long for the book, I decided to read it anyway. I liked it, but I was going to give it 1 star just out of protest. Instead, I decided to give it the score it deserved and add this comment. This book did wrap up a lot of outstanding items and but it certainly isn't the most amazing book I have ever listened to. I would have liked it better with some better editing. This easily could have been 10-12 hrs rather than 19. If I had been reading rather than listening, I would have skipped over huge sections. Maybe that is what the 21 reviewers did, but if so, how could they give it 5 stars?

Best Audiobook Performance I’ve ever listened to.

Any additional comments?

I would buy more audiobooks if they had performances like this book had. Often narrators turn me off to a series. When you have a romance with an Alpha male you should use voices like Phil Gigantes, Robert Petkoff, Jim Frangione, Ed Westwick etc. However, with such a powerful male voice it is hard for them to do the woman's part, it sounds silly. I love romances that have a male and female performer. This is my favorite audiobook because of the strong, romantic storyline and phenomenal performance.

Loved it!

I'd read this series many years ago, and it is by far one of my favorite. The audio performers, on all books, did a fantastic job!

captivating yet lacking in comparison to previous

i thought this book did a great job at keeping my attention. i was on the edge of my seat for most of the ride. however, i was let down as questions began to get answered. it wouldn't have been such a let down had the questions not been building and building over the span of several books. i felt the author had an opportunity to really get creative with the reveal at the end. sadly it fell short though the ending isn't what i would have expected it still lacked tactfulness. the romance that also had me hanging and salivating until the end was cheapened. it was concluded with what felt like last minute additions and ideas and it felt rushed. all together i thought it was a really interesting read but it did not reach the full potential or creativity that the previous books built it to be

Never gets old!

I've listened to the full fever series so many times I've lost count and it is as fabulous each subsequent time as the first. Highly recommend this series, all books included. You will not regret buying each and every one of them.

What did you like best about Shadowfever? What did you like least?

NOT THE GREATEST BOOK IN THE SERIES

What does Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I LOVE BOTH OF THESE NARRATORS

Any additional comments?

THIS ONE WAS TOUGH TO FOLLOW....NOT AS MANY LAUGHS OR TEARS
