Publisher's summary

Ender's Game told the story of the boy "Ender" Wiggin and his hard-won victory over an alien race that would have destroyed the Earth and all of humanity. But Ender was not the only child in the Battle School. He was just the best of the best. In Ender's Shadow, Orson Scott Card told the story of another of those precocious generals, the one they called Bean - the one who became Ender's right hand, his strategist, and his friend.

And now Card continues Bean's story, and finally tells a tale long awaited by millions of fans. At last we learn what happened on Earth after the destruction of the Hive Queen's worlds, after humanity no longer had a single enemy to unify the warring nations. This is the story of how Bean turned away from his first friend, Ender, and became the tactical genius who won the Earth for Ender's brother, Peter, who became the Hegemon.

some spliced words, still excellent.

there are some words that are spliced in here and there due to pronunciation changes that were made but it's still a fantastic book. I love the shadow series.

2019 - Audio works fine

I was concerned about the audio due to several reviews. This audio was fine (I’ve listened to Enders Game and Enders Shadow). There were a few blips, but I was expecting much worse. It is a very enjoyable story with many of the same actors. I’ve already bought the next book.

OSC - can’t miss

I feel like every book I read of Orson Scott Card is a master class in psychology and, with Shadow of the Hegemon, history. Great stuff.

Voice needs to be redone

The audio performance is sloppy. So many poor quality dubs and incorrect pronunciations. They pronounced Hegemon and Achilles incorrectly ffs.

music?

I have enjoyed the Enderverse but can only give this recording 4 stars and performance 3 stars only because of the music between sections of this narrative and also the insertion of "the Hegemon" into the audio. The narrators did an excellent job

Again with the stupid music

Another wonderful enderverse book that didn't have the emotional impact it could have because every significant chapter ending was marked by some obnoxious early 90s synth/organ garbage.

Great book

Good actors reading, but it does have a number of audio errors that popup during the back half. its like they went in and edited it after the fact and didn't get the original readers back in. over all though the story was just as good as I remember and I will be downloading the next book in the series as soon as I can.

Not the best, not the worst. Worth the read.

For several chapters there was an odd audio overlay for the word Hegemon. Disconcerting.

amazing story a few audio glitches

there were several over dubs that did not match the narrator speaking at the time. it's like someone didn't like that way someone pronounced hegemon and other select words so they had someone else record it.

Good but...

Another great story by Card. I've followed along in the Endervers for 6 stories now and the voice actors always do a great job. This time around though the sound editing was horrible. The music... were carnival/ waltzing tunes that completly broke up the more tense moments and ruined the flow. It was as if they forgot the music until the very end and found the current tunes in a box of scrapped/unused scores. Also there was allot of post recorded dubbing through the middle of the book making it feel very rushed. Out of all the stories I've heard on Audible, this was the most disappointing one. Again, great story and voice actors but it wasn't put together very well.
