Critic reviews

"In Feehan's latest paranormal, sizzling sex scenes both physical and telepathic pave the road to true love for brilliant billionaire scientist Lily Whitney and Captain Ryland Miller, the leader of a squad of psionically gifted soldiers who have been imprisoned and separated from each other after receiving life-threatening enhancements. When Lily's father called her in to consult on a top-secret project he was working on for the government, he had no idea that he was signing his own death warrant or that his beloved daughter with her psychic talents would witness his murder and become a target for the traitors who were bending his project to their own evil purposes. Ryland lends his psychic strength to Lily and ignites a passion that brings him and his men into her high-security estate. Action, suspense, and smart characters make this erotically charged romance an entertaining read." ( Booklist)

Great audiobook, for both sexes

Would you listen to Shadow Game again? Why?

This was a really good book and the first book of it's kind that I think would strongly appeal to both sexes. A lot of it is from the main male characters viewpoint. He's a soldier, special operations in a leadership position and as a former military wife I can say she was dead on with his characteristics and personality. Reminded me a lot of some folks I know. I think a man would like this book just as much as the ladies. A nice balance between story, character and animal attraction (and of course the results of that - it is Feehan after all). I'd certainly recommend the book or audiobook.

What did you like best about this story?

Strong characters, not a damsiel in distress type of thing, she is as much rescuing him as he ever rescues her.

Which character – as performed by Tom Stechschulte – was your favorite?

Ryland - definitely. He oozed right out of the head phones and into my fantasies!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

His emotions conflicting with his need to be all male.

Any additional comments?

Very well done from all sides. Particularly like that this book would be as enjoyable for the guys as the gals. I haven't seen another of this kind like that.

Loved the Book--I Want a Ghostwalker in My Life!

What did you love best about Shadow Game?

I loved the way Lily and Ryland interacted and the way he was so gentle with her. The sex scenes were very good but still not on a par with her Leopard People series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ryland Miller. He was a contrast between a rough and tumble Army Ranger and a kind and gentle lover.

What about Tom Stechschulte’s performance did you like?

Yes. I thought his voice was perfect for Ryland Miller and he was able to modify it enough to let you know when Lily was talking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Almost all of the interactions between Lily and Ryland were special. I liked the characters and I liked how Ryland supported Lily no matter the problem. I especially liked their dreamwalking sequences.

Any additional comments?

Christine Feehan is an exceptional writer of love/sex scenes. She must have an interesting life---all eleven kids worth!

Not worth a credit, but worth the $4.95.

The book was LONG! I could have summed up the first 8 hours in about 30 minutes, but I kept at it hoping it would get better...and it did. I would give Part I a rating of negative 1 star, and part 2 a rating of 4 stars. Once the book finally got going it was a descent story about a man and a woman who both had psychic abilities.

One thing that I didn't like was that their attraction was never really explained. They both suspected it was forced on them, but we didn't ever find out, I don't like loose threads.

The steamy scenes....once we finally got to them, were C+...I don't know why ever author feels the need to make the girl a virgin, it served no purpose in this story line, and she wasn't young. That was another thing that bugged me about this book, for the first 10 hours or so you got the impression the girl of the story was a book nerd, walked with a limp due to a crushed leg, a real plane Jane type that the hero was attracted to for her soul and mind...but the last 3 hours everyone made her sound like a true knockout....not much consistency there.

The whole book lacked consistency in my opinion...I won't be reading #2. on a side note, I liked the narrator, he did a pretty good job of expressing the charachters, I'd listen to him again!

Interesting Story but...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Unfortunately I actually do read the story for the story and not the sexual descriptions so I wish there was a less sexual (not no sex, just less) version. Even if it is hours shorter.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tom Stechschulte?

yes

Good not great

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There is a LOT of smouldering sexual scenes in this book... the first few were good but after a while it got boring and very repetitive ... Lily & Ryland are hot for each other ... we get it!

In saying that ... if smouldering scenes is your thing then this book is perfect for you.

Apart from that the story was quite good :)

A little over sexed even for Feehan

What did you like best about Shadow Game? What did you like least?

Nice to finally see how the ghostwalers got started.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lilly her struggle to deal with her fathers ultimate betray was compelling.

Did Shadow Game inspire you to do anything?

To by the others to get caught up on the series.

Any additional comments?

Sound quality wasn't as good as it should have been.
