It's not over!!

I loved the addition of Samantha. I think she, much like Richard, is a War Sorceress. Furthermore, Richard is a War Wizard & will prevail!!!!!

The darkest in the series, but amazing

I won't go into an detail, but if you're a fan of the series, this will take you for a ride. The narrator is still the best narrator of all time, in my opinion, of course.

Sword of Truth Fan

Sam was hard to get comfortable with as a Narator. Terry goes on and on sometimes, OK, alot, but when the story finally peaks, it's good, well, to me anyway.

Terrible, But Good?!

NO SPOILERS
I've now thought about this book for a couple months since listening to it.
I want to go back and listen to a couple segments of the older books in the series to compare, but it seems to me that Terry Goodkind has changed his writing style. I dont like the change (if there is one). I'm not into sam tsoutsouvas.

Bottom line:
The newer books have been kind of annoying and not great, but I need my sword of truth fix and will still buy the next book.

I've decided to keep this review short, because if I dont, I will have to write a ton and include spoilers.

Zed’s untimely death……

I enjoy this book it had a good pace & well placed twist, still heartbroken over the death of my favorite character.

Refreshing

If you could sum up Severed Souls in three words, what would they be?

Fast. Sad. Shocking. The book is pretty fast pace from start to end. The first 25 chapters or so are spent by the main characters fighting a huge battle with the half people. From there on even the conversations the characters have are captivating. I hated to see some of what happens to a couple characters, but I'm sure the next book(s) will be based on some of these happenings. Unfortunately one of my friends spoiled certain parts for me by telling me ahead of time what happens to who, but honestly if I hadn't of know, I would have never expected some of the things the happen in this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nicci. Always has been, always will be. She is a strong character who is steadfast to Richard and yet capable of being herself and not following him mindlessly like the others tend to.

Which character – as performed by Sam Tsoutsouvas – was your favorite?

To be fair I don't like Sam Tsoutsouvas' narration. I wish Jim Bond would be used more. He narrated books two and nine. Not many people liked Jim's narrating, but I can't see why.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. I would love to do nothing but listen to the book, but it is too short and was over fast enough as it was. I work ten hour shifts at a saw mill and these books keep me sane.

Any additional comments?

The reason I would refer to this book as "refreshing" is because it brought back some of the flavor of the other books which after The Third Kingdom, was extremely needed. At the same time I feel like while trying to bring back some of that flavor some of the bad parts about the other books came with it. For example (not really a spoiler if you've ever read his other books, and if you have why are you reading this one?); when Richard was being held captive he woke up to the sound of the door opening and three mord sith entering the room. It is PAINFULLY obvious that the mord sith are going to free him. In the end however I was glad Terry made the choices he did with this book and I am really really really hyped for the next book.
