Publisher's summary

"I am Meredith Gentry, P.I., and Princess Merry, heir to the throne of Faerie. Now there are those among us who whisper I am more. And who can blame them? I've awakened the dazzling magic that's slumbered in them for thousands of years. But the thing is, I can't figure out why.

"My aunt, Queen of Air and Darkness, is no longer distracted by her sadistic hobbies. Her obsession has turned unwaveringly to me. The mission to get me pregnant and beat my cousin Prince Cel to the crown is taking longer than expected. Even though I spend each night with the Queen's Ravens, my immortal guards, no child has come of our decadent pleasures.

"But something else is happening. My magic courses through me uncontrollably. And as I lock my half-mortal body with their full-Sidhe-blooded ones, the power surges like never before.

"It all began with a chalice. I dreamed of it, and it appeared, cool and hard, beside me when I awoke. My guards know the ancient relic well - its disappearance ages ago stripped them of all of their vital powers. But it is here with us now. My touch resonates with its force, and they're consumed with it, their Sidhe essences lit up by it.

"But even as they cherish me for this unexpected gift, there are those who loathe me for it. Me, a mongrel, only half fey and part mortal. The Unseelie court has suffered for so long, and there are some who would not have it weakened further by an impure queen. My enemies grow in number every day. But they do not know what I am capable of. Nor, for that matter, do I."

Critic reviews

"Hamilton's trademark mix of the personal and emotional along with the sexual will as usual delight her fans....yet another tour de force ending." ( Publishers Weekly)

Great series

The narrator changes pronunciation in the story...a bit annoying. I love the Meredith Gentry series.

Excellent story, narrator lazy

I have read all of these books and decided to listen to them. The first 2 books were narrated well. I can't say great because some of the voices were just not very good. This is the 3rd book. It is narrated by the same person but for some reason she has decided to pronounce some of the main character's names different. Very disorienting especially when you are listening to them all in a row. For example, Doyle is pronounced Doyle in the first 2 books but in the third she now says his name so it sounds like Dole, like you are doling out money. It's very irritating. Queen Andeas is also pronounced differently. In fact she pronounces the queen's name differently a few times in the same book! Since this is the same narrator I would think she might listen to her earlier narrations to get it right but I guess not. I do not usually leave reviews and when I do it is usually because I absolutely love the book but every time I hear Doyle's name it drives me a little more nuts. Sorry. I do love the story though, it is pure Laurell K Hamilton!

New to the audio book world

I am new to the audio book world and loved this audio book. I started off with purchasing "A Caress of Twilight" at Books A Million for over $25.00. I really liked listening to the book while driving in my car(I have about an 1hr drive to work)but since I own these Laurell K Hamilton novels in hardback was not thrilled about the price. I found this one on audible.com and signed up for the $7.95/mth program and was able to get this audio book for $7.95. It made it even better.

Story is great

I really liked the story but the person reading changed the way all the names sounded and it was odd until I got used to it. Doyle sounded like "dole" etc. I think it could have been much better.

So many plot twists and turns

Thoroughly enjoyed all the plot twists and turns of this book. Although the story takes place over a short span of time it has many intriguing events taking place. The world building is so complex and intricate. The character development is deep and thorough and lead to many new developments for future events. There's plenty of sexy time as expected but with a purpose. After all, Merry is descended from five fertility goddesses. I love how her powers are expanding through the hand of the Goddess and how she shares the power with those around her. My.only complaint was in the narration changing the pronunciation of many of the names from previous books. However it was a minor nuisance easily overlooked in light of the excellent story. Definitely recommend.

Awesome

Loved when Merry finally goes back to the courts to truly begin transforming into the Queen she should be.

Love the book, questionable reading

Absolutely love all Laurell K Hamilton’s books, however the reader’s pronunciation of names was too distracting from the story.

What is with the pronunciation?

This is the second Merry Gentry audiobook I purchased, and it has the same narrator as before. Why, oh why does she pronounce names differently in this book? Doyle, the Queen, Nicoven are all pronounced differently from one book to another and it drives me to distraction. Outside of that, the narrator does a good job with the oodles of voices she must play. The book as a whole is full of so many similes that towards the end of the book becomes a bit much, but of course I still want to know what happens next.

Strange pronunciation

What made the experience of listening to Seduced by Moonlight the most enjoyable?

I am working my way thru the entire series, so I am getting more of the story.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laural Merlington?

Laural Merlington was fine for the first two books, but for some reason she has started to pronounce the names in a diffrent way, I was gooing to check the books to see if I misunderstood, the names of the characters.

Any additional comments?

I hope Ms. Merlington stays constant with the way she pronounces the names in the rest of the series.

Hamilton Proffers More of the Story

These books are engaging! Seduced by Moonlight does not disappoint. No spoilers here, but let me say that if you are already seduced, you will continue to desire more of the story of Meredith and her...hummm 'men'.
