Publisher's summary

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans.

When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously?

Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.

Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven… well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

Can't Wait for 3rd book

Charley Davidson is so cool. I just wish I could think of funny things to say that fast. Lorelei King is the best narrarator in the business.

Great listening, Charley is my kind of girl

This is a great story. Charlie Davidson, grim reaper, is witty and funny as she tries to solve mysteries as she talks to the dead. The stuff she says is just hilarious. Plus she is surrounding by her family and friends that only add to the craziness of her life. And we can not forget Reyes Alexander Farrow, the man's sexiness jumps out at you from the story.

One of my favorite scenes in this book involves the homeless man, I think the conclusion of his small story was just perfect.

I did listen to this book. Lorelei King does a fabulous job with the narration. The way she reads teh story kept me engaged and really made Charlie come to life.

I love this urban fantasy series. It has a little bit of everything in it-paranormal, romance, mystery, and adventure. I can't wait for the next book to see who is bothering Charlie now and what Reyes has in store for her.(

Great humor

After reading her first book in this series, I could not wait to read more! I downloaded the Audible version in preparation of a road trip I was getting ready to take. Loved it!! The narrator is awesome!

Charley Davidson is just as snarky, sassy and tough in this book as she was in Book 1! Fabulous character, but how could she not be? She sees dead people. I absolutely love this character! There was not as much of the heat we saw in Book 1, but Reyes was somewhat occupied throughout most of this book... fighting demons in order to protect Charley and the rest of the world. But we did get just as much humor.

Darynda Jones has created a series that is totally entertaining! Great writing, great characters, great storyline! I can't wait to read more from this author.

Surprisingly Awesomesause!

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

I was hooked on Lorelei King by her performance on the Moon Called series written by Patricia Briggs. I couldn't just stop. Had to buy the next book right away. After that series, I craved for something else. I took a chance and purchased the first book of this series and was surprisingly pleased. The Main character so sarcastic makes me gawfa out loud. I now so want those t-shirt and bumper sticker sayings that are mentioned once in a while. So smart!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen all in one sitting.. ahhh.. I am lucky enough to hid my ear buds within my ear muffs at work and enjoy this world as I get to do my daily routines

Any additional comments?

So far I am loving this world, characters and the passion. Its got me hooked!

One of the best of the paranormal books out there

Darynda Jones is a very talented author who is getting better with each book of this series.
The character of Charley Davidson, the heroine, is a great creation. There are so many aspects of her character and she is discovering more about herself and her powers in each book. The hero is out of this world, forgive the pun, a guy who is supposed to be created from evil but is in fact one of the toughest fighters for good. This series and the supporting characters are very unique. There are some serious issues but packed in great humor, and it just keeps getting more and more interesting as the series goes on. Looking forward to the next book.

Love the series. Can't wait to get the next one.

Would you consider the audio edition of Second Grave on the Left to be better than the print version?

I did not get the print version so I can't compare. However, I am very pleased with the audio version. The narrator does an excellent job with the characters and brings to life the witty personality of Charlie, the main character.

What other book might you compare Second Grave on the Left to and why?

Unfortunately, I can't think of any comparisons. I would be listening to those books If I knew.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

King is perfect for the job. She does a good job differentiating each of the characters and bringing out each of their different personalities. She does an excellent job with the main character.

Any additional comments?

I am really enjoying this series. The stories are fast, entertaining, funny and sexy.

Inconsistent credibility

After reading the first book I was fascinated by the characters. This sequel seems like it was rushed past the editors and was not nearly as refined a story line.

Great fun and joy to listen too.

Enjoyed the first book and I really like the story. Very enjoyable and found myself laughing out loud many times. Charley has some very interesting thoughts and loves to express herself. Lorelei King does a great job in narration.

The Fun Continues!!

I really liked this book it's fun to listen to. The people (and ghosts) continue to grow and learn more about themselves and those around them. While the end of this book was kind of sad, I have to get the next one to see what happens. Over all this seems to be a fun series and I can't wait to see what happens next.
