Continues a great story!
I love how they focus on different dynamics and characters while keeping Royce, Haydrian and Arista as the main characters. The end ties up loose ends but I am hoping for a great conclusion in books 5 and 6!

The second book delivers
I was pleasantly surprised that this book (books 3 and 4) did not suffer from the sophomore curse. This was on par with the first novel and I enjoyed it every bit as much. There are loads of different characters but the main focus is still on the main characters Royce and Hadrian. I love these characters and I can't wait for the next book.

I would definitely rec this book. The characters are funny and develop more and more over the series of the books. A good epic series!

I love his voices. You can easily tell one character from the other

Absolutely fabulous!
What made the experience of listening to Rise of Empire the most enjoyable?
The story was great. Narration was great.
What did you like best about this story?
It kept me guessing, had great twists and turns, and great character development.
Have you listened to any of Tim Gerard Reynolds’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'm not sure if I have. But he is superb.

Simply outstanding.
All fantasy is cut from the same block. The same characters, creatures and kingdoms are tweaked and reused. That's fine for most fantasy fans: more of what already works isn't a bad thing. Truly great fantasy, however, is more. Riyria, while tough to pronounce, is just that. The action, swords, magic and creatures that make fantasy great are all present. But the fast paced, interweaving story lines and suspense of unknown political perils unfolding keep it fresh.

great on all accounts.
I've been a long fan of the genre, and I stumbled upon this series thanks to the suggestions of Audible based on my previous listens. it is packed tight with tremendous character development, and laced with plot twists that will leave you dumbstruck. 'Tis a great read. Tim Reynolds is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators, besides! I highly recommend this series!

Continuation of a wonderful story
This builds seamlessly on the first book, exploring the characters and setting while telling a wonderful story. There's so much to love in this series, and a lot of it is subtly worked into this book.
