Good Sequel

The biggest problem here is again the interminable suffering of Sayon. He goes through three kinds of hell and we live each moment with him. Not sure how this advances the development of his character or the plot of the story. However, the problem presented to Sayon is profound and requires him to make Hobson's Choices around conflicting morals and beliefs that would drive most humans insane. That he does so and remains sane is part of the remarkable allure of this story.

Plot or Plod?

This wonderful work of imagination could have been a five-star effort if a competent editor had dropped the word count by 30%.

Expands storyline from first book.

Carol Berg continues the stories of Seyonne and Aleksander while adding several new and enjoyable characters. Excellent world building skills!

The Beginning of the End...

I know these books well. Read them a hundred times over in the physical copies. Hearing them read has brought new dimensions and understandings to the forefront, and I go with great anticipation (and healthy dread, for I know of Seyonne's path) on to the next and final volume of this beautiful trilogy.

Great!

It never gets old. Berg knows how to write a great story full of everything you could want. All the better that it's brought to life so wonderfully.

Amazing

Hard to express when a second book is as good as the first - i just finished and there are tears in my eyes and a lump in my chest. Its hard to say why this book is so good - maybe its enough to say that al the threads are woven together into a fantastic tapestry - Definitely worth gazing upon for hours.
Looking forward to book 3... looking forward to re-reading the whole series in a year or two... just amazing
