Publisher's Summary

Indian Hill 2: Reckoning starts where the first book in the series left off. After escaping from the Progerian Alien vessel, Michael Talbot is now given the opportunity to hide in obscurity with the rest of the human race or rise to the occasion and once again find himself immersed in a battle that he wants nothing to do with.

Mike goes home and while reconnecting with a family that believed him dead he decides to join whatever resistance force can be mustered to repel the oncoming invasion. As the world of man gets thrust towards the abyss of extinction, two women in love with the same man make a desperate bid to travel across the country to reunite with him.

Mike will suffer the ultimate betrayal from those he loves the most. Will mankind fall and be ground to dust like so many other civilizations or will the tiny humans thwart a takeover? Only time, and shed blood will tell.

"Michael Talbot, our hero, is back"

I haven’t read the first Indian Hill book but I am going to. You really should start this series with the first book. In the Reckoning you pick up were the first book left off.

Michael Talbot, our hero, is back on earth and he knows that the Progerians are coming and what they plan for our small world. They have done the same thing on many other worlds. However, they have never fought Humans before.

This book is more about the results of the first alien attack and the aftermath of the destruction of the military and government. Without rules, chaos.

This book shows how fast everything can fall apart. The three story lines involve Mike, now 21, Deb and Beth, and Paul. Deb and Beth are the two young women that Mike loves. They were on the alien ship with him and other humans. Paul is Mike’s best friend. They grew up together. Paul thought that Mike had been killed and he had started to put together a secret army to fight the aliens.

The story goes back and forth from one character to the other showing what each of them has had to do to survive. Civilization has collapsed and this is humanity at its worst. Remains of National Guard and Police try to keep some balance of order but the dregs are taking over.

Mr. Tufo has added depth to his characters in this book. You can love, hate, pity, and despise them all at the same time. Lots of action and blood shed and a last page that will leave you ……

This audio book was read by Sean Runnette. He has a wonderful voice and his narration was exciting. He gave life to the characters with feeling. He performed each character with just the right expression and emotion. Excellent rendition.

The audio production was also excellent. Every word was clear. No static or unwanted skips.

    "Just plain fun"
What made the experience of listening to Reckoning the most enjoyable?

I've read or listened to almost all of Marc Tufo's stuff, having more Mike Talbot, who is just a great character, is absolutely fantastic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mike Talbot. He's got a great wit. He's strong. He thinks beyond himself even while he's broken and in pain. In these books, he is kinda like a super hero, standing up against the aliens and those who chose to use the situation to bring out their worst. In the grans scheme, it really is the adverse moments that show humanity, not the perfect peace times.

Have you listened to any of Sean Runnette’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Sean is consistent. His voice is great and his capturing of characters is inspired.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Aliens, welcome to earth. Aliens, Meet Mike Talbot.

The story went down hill but it's still worth your time and credit.

Let's hope that ending will fix it all.

What made the experience of listening to Reckoning the most enjoyable?

Just when you think Talbot can't have anything more happen to him, it does.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Heck yes. I always feel like I want to rush through these books and I am always sorry when they are done.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone

Which character – as performed by Sean Runnette – was your favorite?

    Mike Talbot

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

I didn't think I would enjoy the indian Hill Series, but thought I would give it a try because I enjoyed the Zombie Fallout series so much. I was pleasantly Surprised that I enjoyed it just as much as the zombie Fall out series. Mark Tufo is a talent writer and Sean Runnette is a great narrator.

    "Don't!"

Story line had potential but... The Author has no concept of large scale action, strategy, combat or anything else that would have made these books readable. The story lines go from allowing the Characters to mature to reverting to stupid beyond belief and nothing is consistent. First there are millions of aliens with 200 plus iQs on an indestructible ship then only thousands of stupid incompetent lizards.

    DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

    "blah"

I enjoyed the first book in this series. It was just so weird, it was hard not to.

Reckoning is just stupid without the weird. The plot was minimal. It could have been summed up in a couple of paragraphs. Some of it was really dumb. More than some of it.

"Can I Get Some Continuity Up in Here?"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the narrator didn't sound like WIllem Dafoe doing his best Willem Dafoe impression I supposed. I found myself out-loud making fun of it while I listened. "Then we'll crack a few beers..."

Has Reckoning turned you off from other books in this genre?

Just from this series. I gave up. From the author apparently abandoning first person for third person omniscient along with the main character himself (I'm guessing he comes back but I couldn't wait around for it) to the excruciatingly bad military-speak and implausible plot-lines regarding the militia, etc. I just couldn't get past it.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sean Runnette?

The love child of James Earl Jones and Benedict Cumberbatch couldn't save this.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Reckoning?

The chapter's long setup of the militia and the girls running around being chased by gang members and all the deliberations of minutia robbed this story of any epic feel that an alien invasion should have.

    Any additional comments?

Can't believe people like this so much. With a "Young Adult" (read: Tween) designation, I guess but I was expecting decent prose, story line, continuity, etc.

Very disappointed with this book, not much of a storyline not even enough to try the next book so the adventures of Mike Talbot end here for me.

    "Wow, what a story."
Would you listen to Reckoning again? Why?

    Yes, its a great book.

What other book might you compare Reckoning to, and why?

    All other Mark Tuffo's works

What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Even though he is a Yank, he reads very well, he can fall into the wide range of characters very easily. He delivers sarcasam very well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The whole thing really.

    Any additional comments?

    Nope

I am a massive fan of Mark Tufo's books. I The Indian Hill series is another great story. I loved the Zombie Fallout series and this adds another dimension to Mike Talbot's life.

Mark keeps you engaged with the story and always makes you want to read more. This book goes deeper into Mike's experience on the ship and really digs deep into his personality.

A must for all Mike Talbot fans.
