Publisher's summary

Chaos's evil shadow sweeps over KrynnDuring the hottest summer in memory, minotaurs fight against the Knights of Takhisis, into whose hands their god Sargonnas has delivered them. In the midst of the conflict, the armies of Chaos plunge into the heart of Ansalon.

Now the minotaur warrior Aryx must unite his people and their enemy, the knights, against the monstrous servants of Chaos. If he succeeds, the two sides may forge a bond that will change Krynn for all time.

If he fails, then they will all perish.

Richard Knaac, author of the New York Times best-selling The Legend of Huma, tells this thrilling tale of the minotaurs of Krynn in the time of the Chaos War.

Really great story and performance!

I really enjoyed both the story and the performance of the narrator, they did a great job bringing this Dragonlance novel to life!

Reavers of the Blood Sea

Like all of Richard A. Knaak’s novel this one is superb. And it has great narration. This is another minotaur tale (not a bad thing). This one is about Kaz’s descendants during the Chaos War.

Bloody Good Time in Krynn

This story is badass. Richard Knaak delivers the goods once again on action, love, and a new impending chaotic doom. a fantastic author, and someone whose books, and stories I always look forward to reading.

Clinton Wade's performance is astounding to say the least, spoken with true commitment to the fantastic, dark tale of Aryx and the Minotaur empire's woes.

Definitely will listen again!

Best of the Chaos War series so far

Great story, but expected nothing less from Knack writing about minotaurs in Krynn. Additionally for once the narrators voices fit the characters thank goodness, pronunciation of major names is still a big annoyance though.

One of the better books in the Chaos War series

The Chaos War series each cover a different theater of the Chaos War, the main events of which are portrayed in "Dragons of Summer Flame." This book deals with the minotaurs, who have been commanded by their god to submit to the Knight of Takhisis and allow themselves to be led against the forces of Chaos. This book can be enjoyed without reading any of the other books in the series, although there are a few details that will have less significance if you do that.

Knaak is excellent at writing intense action sequences and political intrigue. He also distinguishes himself from the other authors with his creativity. Most of the other books in the series have the characters battling the three basic Chaos monsters introduced in "Dragons of Summer Flame." Knaak, however, creates new Chaos creatures not seen in that novel, which gives the book some much needed variety.

The book also functions as a bit of a sequel to Knaak's previous Dragonlance novels, "The Legend of Huma" and "Kaz the Minotaur." The hero of this novel is a direct descendant of Kaz, and the evil Sword of Tears that tempted Huma makes a return appearance. Knaak deals with the same themes of a heroic character who fails to acknowledge his own heroism because he perceives it as simply doing his duty.

Overall I would say that this is one of the top two Chaos War novels (the other being "The Doom Brigade"). It's well worth a read if you liked "Dragons of Summer Flame," or any of Knaak's other Dragonlance novels.

Another wonderful novel by Richard Knaak

This is my first time reading this title since I read it when it first came out.

All in all, my original opinion still stands. Wow!
I've said it before and in sure I will do so again, Richard Knaak is easily the most creative and most skilled of the "Expanded Universe" Dragonlance novels.

As always, there are some minor inconsistencies with the core novels, but all in all Knaak's are more in keeping with the existing lore than most others.

Story wise, I love what Knaak has done with the interactions between the Minotaurs and Knights of Takhisis here, and I really love that unlike the rest of the Chaos War series, this book utilizes creatures and conflicts that are entirely new.

Between all that and the wonderfully developed characters and their relationships (as well as a few awesome Easter eggs!), this is a wonderful book that any fan of Richard Knaak, Dragonlance, or Minotaurs should love.
